reaction were conspicuous again on the
stock exchange today. Prices yielded
from one to over two points In almost
all the active ti.ute and for many of
theae the loa-eat prices of the week were
reglsterd. Labor unrest aa demonstrated
In the decisive "strike vote" of the east
ern railroad engineers and tbe probability
of aa unfavorable report against the
steel corporation by the Stanley commit
tee, were potent Influences.
The opening was lrregu,sr with another
spectscular rise In Canadian Pacific, Its
1-point advance being In rrafonse tu a
similar gain In London. New York Cen
tral wss active and strong In the Initial
dealings, aa were also Amrrtcsn Can
common and preferred. Theae were more
then offset, however, by pressure against
Steel and Union Pacific which continue
to hold their places u market baro

early session wss uncertain. Not until

tremely light today. In fact, so light that
there were really not enough oh tale to
make a market. The total receipt for
the five day foot up 14. 441 head, being
the smallest for any week la a long tlm
back, excepting only last Week, when
floods Interfered with shipments.
What few cattle there were here gen
erally sold In the morning, at prtoss that
were entirely satisfactory to ths sslllng
interest, but thr were o few here
that It wa really a very hard matter to

SHEEP Trade In sheep and tenth
waa short snd lively at prices steady to
a dime higher. Estimated receipts were
v limited and included seven loaas
billed through to the east, leaving only
three or four loads on tbe actual market
Quality was extra good, however, and
most sales had a toppy appearance. At
tractive fat western lambs In the fleece
landed at Ss-tut snd wooied ewes made a

Aside from a more acttve demand in
the sheep market this week, few change
In the general situation havs devsioped.
The market has ruled steady to strong
on most days and Is cloalng about Ntjltc
higher on both sheep and lambs. Receipts
were apparently heavy, but considerable
through stuff arrived and actual offer
ings were really moderate. Shorn lambs
were scarce throughout and the supply
of wethers and yearlings negligible.
Ewes and Ismbs la the wool gsads up
bulk.
Feeder business Involved only a few.

were both very small, but shearers have

distribution of merchandise, both whole
