PHewa Beard sf Trade.
CHICAGO. Feb. It.-Rapidly decreasing
supplies, with predictions that within a
month the total store at Liverpool would
be the snialleet since the year of the
Letter corner, gave strength today to the
market for wheat. Closing prices were
V to c higher than last night.
British cahlea took the wheat trade bv
surprise. Notwithstanding the sharp break
yesterday in all markets on this side ot
the Atlantic, the foreign exchangee nearly
wunoui exception showed a decided bull
ish tone. Livernonl dlsoatchea Intimated
that the I'nited Kingdom and the conti
nent would make a more emphatic call
upon exporting countries in the near fu
ture. That the world's available stock
had fallen off mm much sa 7 K2 Oou hushnls
lor the week was confirmed, and the mar
ket closed firm at prartu-ally the highest
level of the day. A falling off in the
amount of wheat on hand at Minneapolis
aided In bringing about the upturn. May
ranged from Il.lllVyl.tB to ll.tttfi! tkiV
with the finish strong at U.u.',jhCa. a
rise of .c net.
Belief in greatly reduced farm reserves,
because of heavy feeling, helped corn to
score an advance. May fluctuated be-
en LwVc and etrst-ec. closing
firm at it. a gain of irVtc over
last night. Cash grades were steady. No.
'i yellow was quoted at ttutttto for car
lots. ,
Oats showed Indcnendent strength. Out
side limits for May were o-'Sc and UV
witn last sales 'o up at wv-'.
Offerings in provisions were exceedingly
small. At the close pork was Stajeo to
loc higher, and rllu almost as much, but
lard was substantially tho same as last
nignt.

when a hear drive weakened tha list.
The rise in price st ths beginning of

Foreign purchases were estlmsied at 16.-

watched dossly In the belief that their
Influence might be felt here.
Pressure againat aome of the lea active

Within the last month this stock has
fallen more than 10 points.
Ths copper stocks were strong and the
