SHEEP Moderate receipt Of sheep and
lambs met with a packing detnano tnai
wa falrlv active but not especmi.y
gent. I'nllke vestenlay's market, there
was considerable discrimination between
plain and extra good classes, pr ces paid
depending on quality and flnlgh. in
short, spread were normally wide and
buyer made their purennsrs i i.b--'--more
properly determined by the charac
ter of various offerings. I
Fat lambs, being in best supply, worked
down a trifle from their high pomon
yesterday, usually selling weak to about
a dime lower. The best fat lamb on
aale brought KSO. Indicating a quotable
top of $.4o. and It took pretty good kinds
of lambs to pas the 8H.00 mark. Plain
hnn reds rhnnffed hand around $5.K.".
There was not very much business In
matured muttons, a the ewe ttpply wa
limited, with wethers and yearling very
scarce. Some classy ewe reached $4.1&
and good trades landed around 83.85, the
trade being generally described as ateady.
Choice wethers were wanted at $4.2Vif4.50.
and yearlings with heavy lamb weights
would probably sell aa high as tT.iftC5.40.
Very few canner ewe are coining In at
present and value remained nominal.
i.-,uter aiiles were neither freouent nor
large enough to afford anything like a
fair test or prices. ery inue muu ar
rived in thi flesh, a phase of receipt
that has been apparent in all recent runs,
and the country outlet ha also become
rather small. Yesterday's buy on country
account amounted to less than 400 head.

Dut the advance even higher than that.
It must be understood by shippers, how
ever, that the advance Is due entirely to
the very meager receipts and anything
like large runs might cause prices to de

Newsboys Are Guests
at the Jacobs Hall
Newsboys of Omaha were banqueted at
the Jacobs Memorial hall last night.
Two hundred or more boys were treated
to one of the best feeds they ever de
voured. It waa prepared under the di
rection of Mrs. F. L. Haller and Mrs.
M. O. Maul. The boys were marched up
to the hall by the street circulation,
managjera of the local papers and once)
there pandemonium reigned. Dean and
Mrs. J. A. Tanooclt were In charge og
the entertainment and after all the
guests whi were coming, had been ac.
counted for they entered, the dining room
where a turkey feed awaited them.
Each little guest . was given as much
turkey and cranberry sauce as he could,
stow away and then mince pie.' cake, lc
cream and fruit were served. Every boy-
was given a box of candy and oranges.
The banquet started at o clock, but
by 7 no one could be found who was
willing to leave the table, so the vaude
ville program, which had been arranged
to follow the banquet wag deayed. Later
all swarmed up stairs to witness tht
show staged for their benefit.
This show rras composed of newsboy
talent with the exception of a dainty
little dance by 7-year-old Katherine in
ner and a talk by Dean Tancock ami
F. L. Haller. When the final act had
been presented the boya nearly raised
the roof with their cheers and yells for
Mrs. Maul, Mrs. Haller, Dean Tancock,
Mrs. Tancock and themselves.
