In loax Fall la Jan sarf to nm Irlde tlal Candida-?, SIOCX FALLS, H. I)., IVe. 31. (Spe cial.) Political interest In outh Dakota now ia centered in a meeting which Is to ho held at Huron on Friday, January 6. by the South Dakota friends of Presi dent Taft, who. expect at that tlmo to lay the foundation for an aggressive fight to elect ten delegates from South Dakota to the republican national convention. The supporters of President Taft believe that as South Dakota will be one of the last states to elect delegates to tho Chicago convention. President Tart will nave a Inrge majority of the delegates to the Chicago convention before the delegates are selected In South Dakota, and that therefore the movement to select La Follette delegates from South Dakota will by that time have tho bottom knocked out of it and will have collapsed completely. In the event that Ihe fouth Dakota friends of Senator LaFollette continue to wage a fight to capture the South Dakota delegation after president Taft has cap tured a majority ot the delegates to tht national convention, . the Taft men In South Dakota will charge tho partisans of Senator LaFollette with acting a tides of the democrats. One of the mov ing spirits In the movement to have the meeting" held Is Thomas Thorson of Can ton, 8. D., member of the republican na tional committee, who is an enthusiastic supporter of Sanator LaFollette and strongly opposed to the renomlnatlon of President Taft. The meeting will be of state-wide scope and efforts will be made to have several thousand LaFollette supporters from all parts of the state attend it. As the result of the meeting Jt Is expected a vigorous campaign for a LaFollette delegation from South Dakota to the national con vention will be inaugurated. The promoters of the meeting plan to secure some speaker of national reputa tion. During the last week the friends of Senator Gamble have been active In all parts of the state..
