character of recent sessions. Trading. In

cattle this morning, 244 cars being re
ported in. This makes the total tor the
two days this week 19.W head, being 1
falling off of about 2.600 head, as com
pared with the same days last week and
a year ago., other market point were
liberally supplied with cattlo and advices
generally were not reassuring. The re
sult was a generally slow trade,
There seemed to be a good demand for
gootr fat cattle and strictly desirable beef
Hieers generally communded steady prices.
On the other hand, the less desirable
kinds were slow to a little lower than
yesterday.
The better grades of cows and heifer
showed more or less weakness due to
the fact that a good many medium grade
oeer steers are coming Into direct com
petition with the better grades of cow
stuff. Cows might be quoted weak to 10c
lower, with canner cow in good demand
ana steady.
ino country did not respond with as
liberal orders as expected yesterday and
ti jjopd many feeding and stock cattle
were carried over In the hands of specu
lutors. As a result the speculative de
mand was slow, buyers not being inclined
to take on very many additional cattle
until they knew about the outcome of
those already on hand. Aa a result the
trade In feeders was slow and weak to
10c lower.

reason for cutting cost and the market
dropped to levels 6'TllOc lower tinder pres
sure. The demand from all quarters at
the decline appeared fairly active and
the 10 o'clock clearance found the big
bulk of offerings In seonnd hands.
Supplies amounted to about 100 loads,
motly racking (Trades of ordinary
quality. Perlmps 0110 load out of ever
six carried baron weight, and with dock
ing figures frequent on offerings weigh
ing over 250 pounds, it Is evident that
current runs ar more or less on the
clean-up order.

pounds down to the pee-wee classes weru

Demand from packer responded slightly
to the lesser percentage of killing stock
In receipts and trading started out In rea
sonably healthy form. Prices steady to
possibly a little higher in spots wero
paid for the better varieties, good fat
lambs moving around S5.4AKtf5.60. Very de
cent fleshy ewes landed at S3.00 and bet
ter, while wethers, being In equally
modest supply, brought usual limited
premiums over similar quality ewe stuff.
Nothing new happened In the feeder
market to distinguish It from yesterday's
trade. Weighty lambs wanted on dry-lot
feeding orders attracted the best demand
and generally showed good action around
S4.50ti4.65. One country buyer took out a
big string of fleshy lambs yesterday that
were high-grade In every respect, paying
S4-90, but finishers that work up so far
Into the killing classes are hard to find.
Little lambs are still selling largely un
der the 14.00 mark, aa low a $3.25. Feeder
ewes around S2.26fr2.50 look easily worth
the money and ought to show big profits
on a sixty to ninety-day finish. In a
general way, the main trade In feeders
had a fair degree of life at quotably
steady figures. Yesterday's purchase on
