CATTLE The week closes with th
usual Insignificant run of cattle and with
nothing of any consequence In the beef
line on sale. The market was nominally
steady, but generally 16&2Gc lower than
a week ago. Receipts have been the
heaviest so far this season ond while
made up largely of western range cattle
have Included a very small proportion of
really desirable beeves. Only a few
cornfeds showed up In the arrivals and
the best of these moved at prices not
very much different from a week ago,
while on the ordinary run of short-fed
and warmed-up steers that came In
competition with the western rangers the
trade was dull and unevenly lower from
start to finish.
Western rangers were lower from the
start. Demand from dressed beef men
was rather Indifferent owing to bad beef
and caule markets In the east and there
was not a great deal of competition from
ieeder buyer for the fleshy grades, ao
that trading was on the dull and drsKKV
order and at the cloae quotation are all
of lfxfii&o lower than a week ago.

Business in stockers and feeders was
probably the largest of the season but It
waa not surnciently large to clean up

lower than last week. Outlet waa fair

fleshed steer and these showed the least
decline. Low grade and off quality stock
cattle were a drag on the market from
tart to finish and closed about as low
as any time this season. Yard trader
will be compelled to carry over a good
many cattle till next week.
