forces operated with growing continence.
Virtually every etock of moderate activity
rose from 3 to 2. and with Reading show
ing a rise ot 3 points, United State Steel

sold at 64, compared with 61, yesterday's
closing.
With a much smaller volume of trading
the stock market moved in an Irregular
manner at the opening today. The specu
lative leaders developed considerable
strength. United States Steel opened with

with yesterday's close of 66 und In the
first few minute of trading It rose to 67.
