sentence. Johnson was taken ia aa auto
mobile by Sheriff Brown awl a deputy

try at a rapid pace to the state prison at
Waupun.
The greatest secrecy was maintained be
cause of fears that Johnson aught bo
lynched. He was taken Into custody Sat
urday morning on suspicion, but after ho
had been questioned, he waa released.
Officers kept him under surveillance all
day and tn the evening brought him sa
again and held him under suspicion.
