The nervous, erratic movement appar

Operation wer governed to some extent
by the Ci-on report. The heaviest selling

copper shares sold off before the publi

report was considered favorable.
In connection with the heavy selling of
United State Steel and the obviously
bearish attitude of many traders towanl
th stock, th report today showed only
slight falling off, compared with the av.
age during August. The United State at.-. .
corporation was reported to be at present

a decline of about 3 per cent.
Reports of national banks, as of Septem

HOG A Hog trade started out at a very
fair pace, but finished In lam condition.
It was a market aafsly to higher on about
three do ten loads that were sold early, th
period Of Improvement being followed by
a dead lull. When bualnes finally re
opened, practically all ot tha early gala
had vanished, and late sale averaged no
better than steady. Movement la tbe 1st.
ter part of the eesslon was decidedly dull,
a oondttlon due largely to reports of cau
tious buying at Chicago, and clearano at
II o'clock found several loade still In
first hands, with poor preepeots of clear-
'"fix Of receipt had no appreciable In
fluence upon the demand, a eatlmate
called for only sixty-two loads. Ordinary
butcher animal mad up the big bulk, and
many classes that brought tt IW7.0O early
had to sell at t6.03.9t after the "recess."
Long strings ranged from 84.90 to 37.00 and
tops reached 17.15, a high price that was
paid early by a shipper.
Order from outside concern wer gen
erally hard to locate and the aggregate
hipping purchase did not exceed twelve
or fifteen loads. Bacon hogs were favored
by margin buyer, but quality, rather than
weight, was tha main consideration

KHEKP While the fresh reoelpte of eheep
and lambs were light, they were easily
large enough to meet requirements of the
demand, as several loads of lambs, Inbe
tweea quality, tallied to find outlets y ester
day. fctulk of offerings consisted of feeder
classes, the proportion of fat atuff being
hardly large enough to create any Interest
in packing circles. Practically everything
sola on a steady basis, but tbe demand!
exoept for fat muttons, had a very dull
tone. Desirable gluing wethers, wt. oto..
ruled a little stronger In spots and showed
very fair action. Feeding lambs ranged
from 16.0006.06 downward and early aales
of fat lambs Indicated a quotable top of
16 40 or poeslbly I 60.
Today's run round off a week' sueolv
triat Is the heaviest Of ths season thus
far amounting to about 137 ) head. Lsmhs
predominated In th receipts and feeders
outnumbered fat arrivals. Huyers natur
ally took a bearish view ef the trade and
wer encouraged In lh,e sttilude by slumpy
fonditluiiM elsewhere. Kst lamhs, now sell
ing at 36.IOi(i.l a show net declines of .h j
too for the week, while feeder lambs sra
closing 167.'.1! lower. Pheep. both feeder
and tat, have been well Sustained at all
times. Dally clearances, always found bulk
In sevond hands, but were Seldom Com
plete. The feeder msrket was the largest and
busiest, of course, as western rsnge are
furnishing thin and In-between classes
