The same has been true as to the best western range beeves. On the ordinary run of both cointeds and rangers the trend to values has been lower from start to litiish and at the close prices are fully 25c olf and In some cases more tilan that. De mand has been very good as a rule and the decline in prices has been due largely to the very heavy receipts both here and else where. As a general thing the market for cows and heifers has followed aboul the same course as the fat cattle market. Very few strictly choice heifer loads have been re ceived and these sold fairly well, inquiry for canners and stock cows has also been sufficiently vigorous to maintain values for this class of stock, while 011 the fair to good butcher grades the market shows a decline of fully 25c for the week. Rota local packers and outside butchers have been free buyers, but the liberal offerings have been favorable to their bear campaign. In stockers and feeders the week closed with between 3,000 and 4,000 cattle In spec ulators' hands and prices generally 2jfd40c lower than a week ago. Early hi the week yard traders were free buyers at strong figures, but as the country demand failed to materialize the trend to values was lower and toward the close It was difficult to find buyers for stock even at the big decline above noted. Any thing at all "off color' had to movi at price generally steady, bulk of total sup ply selling on a firm to nickel higher basis. offerings gave a limited total of sixty five loads and with the demand from all quarters fairly active, complete and erl clxairunce proved easy. Yards at 10 o'clock wen practically empty. (iv. , ......... MUIa.l 1 1 w, htllr ntialltv nf- ferlnKs of all weights, purchasing about 20 per cent of receipts on outside orders. The speculative demand, as la usually the case on a Saturday, had a dormant ap pearance Spreads remained narrow In that portion of the market where hulk landed, a very large slice of the supply selling at and near $7.10. Prime 22-pound animals reached $7.6, a seemingly lofty top thai shows a 16 tent premium oer the best price yesterday. During the week, dally runs had season able mm II sl.te. but were sti: large enough to afforC a six diys' total slightly In excess of laM week's receipts. De mand from pat l.ers ws bear, shly In fluenced by lower trend to product, and the shipping nutlet on most dsys also had smaller slie thitn recently.
