FIYE SCORES FOR ROURKES
Fint of Series with Lincoln is An
nexed, Fire to Two.
VISITORS USABLE TO HIT DEMOTT
Fas! flame and Close to Beta aa Er
rarlrM t test, Beth leans Pat.
flat; la lt Tim Playing
Real Ball.
Benjamin Harrison Demott. otherwise
known a "Blondy." held Bob I'nglaub's
herd of Antelope handily In the first
battle of the series and enabled his com
rades to walk off with tbe game by a
S to I score.
At no time were the Llncolnlteg danger
us. Whenever they started to get a little
fussy Demott would hang out the "nothing
doing" sign and the Antelopes would quit
their aggressiveness and proceed to go 0'it.
The big twlrler wa there strong and at
no time was he In danger of being hit
freely. In the third Inning he was found
for two hits, the most made in any one
Inning off his delivery.
Wolverton was sent In by Unglaub to put
It over on the Colts, but he met his Water
loo In the first Innlr.g, when he was found
for three hits, netting the home team two
runs.
In thi second Lincoln came bark with
one and again In the third did tho name,
deadlocking the score. This was not to
the liking of Pa's athletes and In the fifth
they statu.'! a tally, which ended only after
the game had been neatly tucked away
and a three-run lead to the good.
In the eighth Wolverton was Jerkrd and
Fox pushed to the firing line and held the
Hourkes hitlers for the next Inning.
How They PUreel.
In the first Lincoln did nothing. Moore
opened for Omaha with a single to right.
Nlehoff sacrificed and Tommle slnglM,
sending Moore to third. A single to left
by Kane put Moore across the rubber and
Tommle on third. An error by Carnler
let Thomaaon In with tho second run.
MrCormlck walked In the second for Lin
coln. Thomas sacrificed and Cockman
lammed out a single, sending MeCormlck
across tbe platter for the Antelopes' first
tally.
In the third Oagnler singled to the in
field and went to third on Dundon's tingle
to right. A sacrifice by Cy Cobb sent
(Inrgte home.
Moore opened the fifth with an Infield
lilt; Nlehoff sacrificed: Thomason walked
and Kane doub'ed to right, pushing Moore
across the rubber and sending Tommle
to th'rd. A single by Wtl'lams scored both
Thomason and Kane and likewise ended
the scoring for the day.
It was a fast game, with but one error
chalked tip sgnlnst each team. Jack Has
kell, chief of the Wes'ern league arbiters,
was on the Job, and with him was Shoe
maker. Jack got the hoys tin fast and
the game consequently was one of the I
shortest of the sea-on. Dob fuglaub did j
not go In the Lame, but did the coaching
from tho coaching lines. Score:
