remained there while the Rourkea clouted
out eleven full alxed hits. The flrat came,
although full of botches and poor Judg
ment, waa the 'mora Interesting. It waa
anybody'! game until the last Rourke man
wu downed In the ninth. The home team
took the lead at the jump, but the Kawa
oon came back and tied up. then passed.
The Rourkea tied up In the eighth Inning,
but the Kawa speared two big one In the
ninth and Pa'a athletes could do no bet
ter than push one man aero the au .a .

the bases filled at one time with but one

In the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. IrT

he gave two hits, allowing the Rourkes to

ENDURANCE RUN PLANS OUT

Ran is from Omaha to Jfortb Platte
and Return and the Schedule
Calls for Foar Day on
the Ran.
The third annual endurance run of the
Omaha Motor club will be held September
6, 7, 8 and 9 from Omaha to North Platte
and return, under the auspices of the
American Automobile association, the as
sociation rules and regulations to be fol
lowed throughout.
The entry blanks are being passed around
to the various owners of motor can, and
before September 1, the date the entry list
closes, a large number of contestants are
expected to have signified their Intention
of making the run.
All cars will be classified, and twelve
hours before the start a technical commit
tee will examine each car entered. Ad
justment, repairs, etc., while on the road
will cause the penalization of the car, and
the machine making the trip without being
penalized will be declared winner.
The following is the route and mileage
of the trip, showing the towns and villages
through which the tourists will pass:

i singles cup here today, defeating M. II.
Long, also of California. 6-8, 6-0, 3.-6. 8-7, 6-1.
Bundy worked easily .and always had a
safe lead on his opponent.
II was successful In tricking Long out
of position, and then slashed over passing
drives that found Long away off the court.
Bundy's racquet work was remarkably
strong throughout the five seta.
W. A. Lamed, national champion, paired
with his brother. E. P. learned, won the
doubles, defeating R. Flncke and C. F.

a perfect tennis day and the courts of the
Hod and (inn club in the finest shape pos.

the first annual Interclub tennis match a
great success Saturday afternoon.
Players from every tennis organisation in
the city except the Meld club, the Happy
Hollow club and the Country club were
present to compete In the event. The three
bigger clubs cf the city did not enter any
men because their players are admittedly
too fast for the ones of the smaller clubs
and the Idea is to keep the competition up
an interesting point.
Tha courts of the Rod and Oun club were
banked with Bolid rows of spectators all
the afternoon of the matches, the many
games being run off In as fast order as
possible. F. P. Whlttemore, W. D. Craig
head and E. V. Abbott are managing the
event.
Plalng In the preliminary and first
round of the tournament will go on all day
today and Monday the second round will
be started. Wednesday the doubles will
start. Prixes have been provided for both
the championship and consolation rounds
of the tournament.

pace proved to be the feature of the
Fort Erie meet of the Grand circuit which
closed Saturday. With only four starters
the race went to the Cleveland mare, Evelyn
W., in straight heats. The race was run
in three heats, every heat a race. The
gray stallion, The Eel. set the pace in the
first two heats, but was unable to wlth
rtand the challenges of Shank with Evelyn
W. In the final, Gcers, with Ess H. Kay,
tried to make a runaway of the raco, but
Evelyn W. collared the black stallion at
the head of the stretch. Each heat was
paced In 2:054, the fastest time made dur
ing the meeting.
The Laurier stake for 2:18 pacers resulted
In a victory for Branham Haughman In
straight heats. Akar, driven by Geers,
forced the winner to step the first heat in
