The lxth western handicap shoot, held
under tha sanction of and managed by the
Interstate association, on the grounds of
tha Omaha Oun club, has become a matter
of history. The closing session was held
Friday morning when the handicap tie be
tween William Ridley of Aldlne, Ind., and
a C. Collins of Eagle Grove, la., was shot
off, resulting in a victory for the former,
who broke twenty targets, straight, while
his opponent failed on two.
The shoot should have closed last night,
but It was called on account of darkness
nd for the further reason that when
shooting stopped Thursday night, J. R.
Outamer of Oolumbua, Neb., stood to win,
having missed but one out of sixty targets
In the 100 race, which gave him a chance
for a lookln as a possible winner of the
handicap. However, he missed two out of
bis forty remaining, which put him out of
the running.
The last day of tha shoot opened with a
small crowd on the ground, most of the
entrants having left for their homes. Those
who had not finished In the race on 100

tha "clays." Both seemed steady, but In
tha fifth Collins missed, sad in tha twelfth
Ridley missed his bird. From then on
both man shot true to their aim, each
killing nineteen of the twenty targets, re
sulting in another tie
There was a short Intermission, when
Referee Shaner again called tha men up
behind tha traps. Collins was tha first to
hoot, and It was notloed that he was
hooting lightly below the target, knock
tag oft a bottom. Ridley waa driving

It was apparent that ha was seised with
an attack of fever, while Ridley was kill

his steady and sura gait to tha 'finish,
making a Boor of twenty targets straight,
