Humphrey Doctor Held Under New Law for Toting a Gun Controversy Ends in Mixup With Marshal When Physician it Arrested. HUMPHREY, Neb., Aug. l.-(Spectal Telegram.) Dr. W. M. Condon, president of the Ottl and Murphy bank at Hum phrey, and prominent In social and politi cal circles, was bound over to the district court yesterday for carrying concealed weapon. The doctor waived examination and no evidence was submitted by the prosecution, but It I well understood that the affair resulted from the street carnival and fire men's tournament at Humphrey. It Is generally known that women of 111 repute were In Humphrey during the carnival to. which the doctor entered his protest with the local authorities. The local Catholic priest also condemned the failure of the town marshal to arrest the disreputable women and drive them from the town. After the carnival the town marshal mixed words with the doctor over the affair. During what the doctor construed as a threatened assault by the marshal he stood the town official off with a revolver, whereupon the marshal filed complaint under the new law against carrying con cealed weapons. The case is attracting considerable at tention and the doctor says he will force the Issues at the trial In the district court to the end, alleging justification of his action.
