an uphill game and tied on In the ninth
Inning. The home run gave the Joeles the

two more before the ninth. The Rourkea,
fighting every step of the way and play.
In claMy ball, in spite of the rain and
wet grounde, caught op with the South
erners In the last frame with three hit,

Johnson started the game for St. Joeeph
And opened If he wa to break a record.
The flmt three men to face him struck out

men. He pitched good ball until the
Rourkes soWed his mysteries In the sev
enth, and he wae Jerked In the eighth. For
the Rourkes, Hall atarted the game and al
lowed but three hit In si Innings. How
ever. Captain Dill was not taking chances
and sent Cook to the mound, who made a
good Impression In hie first appearance at
home with the Rourkes. In the five in
nings Bitched by hire he struck 'out seven
men and allowed but three hits. '
The game did not start until almost 4:16
owing to the rainy wtather and at several
times during the play It seemed as If the
game must be called, but the umpires, Ar
bogast and Kerns, mistook the players for
ducks, and let ths game go on. The
Rourkes hit the ball at will, after they
got onto Johnson's curves and Kaufman
lasted lose than an Inning and Chellette
was then sen to the mound. About 300
fans braved the rainstorm to see the
Rourkes play and sat through eleven In
nings, hoping against hope that the home
team would win.

do the umpiring. Kneaves was taken sick
In the eighth Inning of yesterday's game
and Bill Sohtpke went In at abort. Schlpke

clean hits. The first time up he hammered
out a triple and the second time a single.
Powell landed safely on first for Omaha
In th(f!Vt Inning, when Kelly was thrown
ut at second. He took second when Jones
wslked. He went to third on a wild pitch
by Hall and Jones took second. In an
attempt to get Powell at home, who
scored, Zwllllng ' reached first and Jones
took third. Zwllllng stole second and both
men scored on Rellly's single to center.
. In the slKth Inning Kelly waa walked,
stole second, took third on an error of
Agnew and scored when Swilling tripled
to center.'
. Omaha made the first run In the ssvsnth.
Williams reached first on an Infield 'hit.
Agnew singled to eenter. Hall slnglsd to
ths Infield. Pick singled to right and Wil
liams and Agnew raced home.
In the eighth Jones was walked and
stole second, and scored on ZwilUng' sin
gle to center.
Omaha earns back In the came Inning
with another run. Williams doubled to sen.
ter and scored on Niehoff'e single to cen
ter. In the ninth the Rourkes tied up.
Schlpke tripled to eenter. Pick scored him
with a triple to the same plaoa. Pick
scored on an infield hit by Thomeson, who
was thrown out at second. .
The Joslea took the game In the eleventh
when Zwllllng clouted the ball over the

morning at T o'clock. One hundred and
two -golfers started In the Initial round of
the play. The low score of the morning
was made by Clarence Peters of ths Omaha
Country club, who made the round In 79.
Peters and Harold Johnson, the two high
school lads, who met for ths championship
of the school Isst month, were ths only
onss who mads the course under the bogey
of S3 Wednesday, Johnson getting 81.
