was elected president of tha association at
this convention, pledged personally $6,000

mots religious education among tha negroes
In ths southern states.
But ona regular session of the conven
tion was held today, ths delegates devot
ing tha afternoor. and evening to recrea
tions and excursions. At the morning ses
sion, '"Dlvldenda on Our Investment," was
tha subject discussed briefly by Justice J.
J. MacLaren of Toronto. Ont.. John R.
Pepper ot Memphis. W. N. Hartshorn of
Ronton and E. K, Warren of Three Oaks,
Mich., also made addresses.
Dr. J. Wilbur Chapman of Nsw Tork
spoke on "Soul Winning - and Christian
Service," and Marlon Lawrence of Chi
cago, general secretary ot the association,
discussed tha responsibilities and eppor-
tuniUes of the association.

The report of International Treasurer F.
A. Walla of Chicago was presented. Tha
report showed that ths receipt lines the
last convention amounted to $170,22, nearly
all of which had been expended. Fledges
and contrlbutlonr to - tha general fund
brought 261.197 and life memberships, 2,11,609.
Tha sum of 117,230 was contributed by
states and provinces toward field workers.
Tha chief disbursements were $ii,894 for
salaries and $21,637 for traveling expsnses.

of march at ( o'clock last night amid the
deafening cheers of many thousands of
spectators. .
Soon tha snthuslastlo fervor of tha sing
ers had communicated Itself to these thou
sands of onlookers, the cheering was
turned to song and all along the line were
heard the words of this stirring hymn, In
unison with the marchers, it waa one of
the most remarkable parades ever wit
nessed In Ban Francisco and marks a new
era In the progress of Christianity In this
