--4 k TIIE BEE: OMAHA,- FRIDAY, MAT 2fl, 1911. Chicago Teams Climb; Phillies in Lead Again; Tigers Defeated; Omaha Loses 1 1 INFIELDERS BOOT GAME OFF Pick and Kneavei Hand it to Lincoln in Eighth. TWO B INGLES HELP AUTELOPES Omahog Make a Desperate Rail? In Math, bat Seeonel la aa Par aa Mas Ct Sonr I 4 to 8 la Firtr of Llieela. Two errors, on by Kneaves and the other by Pick, and two hits, all In the eighth, won the last same of the serle for Iin coin by a score of 4 to t yesterday afternoon. It was all Rhodes until the eighth Inning, when poor support unset tled him and the game slipped away. ' Omaha played a stellar game until the fatal eighth. Not an error had been made and the batting was all to the good. Rhodes had pitched classy ball and held the Antelopes to four hits, two decidedly scratchy. A three-run lead waa credited to the Itonrke when the Llncolnite went to bat In the seventh. A double to left, backed up with a long fly and another blngle brought tha first run across the pan for the Antelopes. This taste only whetted the appetite ' of the Lincoln bunch and Un glaub got so fussy in his excitement that he talked top much and was ordered off the field ' by Umpire Jack Haskell. The loss of their manager did not stop the Capital Xlty boys and before the smoke of the next Inning had cleared the gaVne was snugly tucked away. rati! Rally la Milk, A big attempt was made to tie the score In the ninth. After landing a man on sec ond base, the Rourkes could do nothing but pop up flics to the outfield. Schlpk went to bat far Rhodes In the ninth In ning and did what tha latter had dona very time at bat struck put. Aside from the defeat, good and Inside base ball held sway throughout the nine Innings. Clever play" V' the. Inflelders of both teams featured the fracas and the fans were treated to a 'good game. Omaha did not play as good base ball on the bases . M the Antelopes or tha game would have ended with the Rourkes en top. The eleven hits made by the Colts were useless In nearly every Inning. Unglaub placed Wolverton on the firing line and Stratton on tha receiving end and and Instead of getting Into the game hlm ealf, put Dundon on second. Wolverton was found freely by the Rourkes, but the nits were kept scattered. Omaha, First to genre. Omaha scored the first run of tha game la the second. King tripled to center and scored on Kneaves' hit to left. Hick opened the third Inning for the Rourkea by hitting eafsly past first. He took second on Cobb's error of Williams' drive and scored on N'lehof f slsxler . through Oagnler. In the fifth Williams tripled to left and cored on Xlehoff's hit past Thomas. Lincoln made the' first score in the sev enth. Cobb doubled to-left and waa ad . vanoed to third by Miller, who flew out to King. He scored when Thomas hit safely past third, i In the eighth, Oagnler got a lire w.ben Kneaves booted his stiff grounder. He took' second on Dundon's single to left. , Both men romped home whan Ool'Ja4--.ontK to 1 right' field for thraVaaesyCMe scored when Plcg made a poor throw of Cobb' grounder. Ths toonv " -' OMAHA. Catcher Diets 'of Maryvllle haa been laid up since the season opened with a bad finger. Manager Castle of 6benandoah says he will fin the ft rat man of hi club who fall to touch th bag when making th circuit Bulger Walsh haa at last reported to Maryvllle and says that he is going to knock the peggs from under the pitchers this season. In the Nebraska City-Auburn game last Saturday Mann drove out two home runa, winning the game for Nebraska City, In th eleventh Inning. Without question, little Steno of ; Falls City I th amalieat man In the Mink league, a fact the pitcher will appreciate whan delivering the ball to him. President Carey of the Mink league has been out looking over his umpires. He said on his return be was well satisfied with them at present. Mayfleld. who was released by the Ne braska City club, wa grabbed by Manager Morgan for Clarinda. It was expected that someon would take him In. There t on thing that Manager Morgan of Clarinda 1 going to hav In his club this season, and that Is harmony. Just look who ha has behind th bat Harmony. In the game last Friday at Falls City ther wer eight home run scored, Falls City making six and Maryvllle two. Some hitting for th second game of the season! Nabravka City ha timed a new catcher by the name of Kelly. It I said that Unglaub of the Lincoln Western league has only farmed him to Nebraska City for a little mor experience. The Mink league probably hold th rec ord for home run In single inning. In th sixth inning of a recent game lie Cabe, 'Van Fsppen, McNeil and Drum of Falls City tallied a four-sacker. Maryvllle has secured Catcher Black from Falls City. Black Is a good man As Falls Orty had Vanderhlll and Fraser. It had no room for Black, and Maryvill needed him. When the Nebraska City club went to Fail City last Monday it was escorted by a tralnload of fans and th game started out to be a live on, but wa stopped on account of rain In the fourth Inning, with th cor 8 to 1 In Nebraska City's favor. With -Pitcher Johnson still going to col lege at Tabor, la. and Inflelder Simmons still at his-h school at Shenandoah, also First Baseman Hennlaon home In Omaha on account of sickness. Shenandoah is in bad shape. It Is expected, however, that another week will see the team all work ing again. Maryvllle has one of the beat road clubs In the Mink league. No matter what Its trubles are. it ia going just the same, with rhe a me pepi'er aa if t had no accidents snd was winning. Since the season opened Its catcher. Diets, had a finger broken; Wents. th third baseman, waa hit on th right elbow, and Outfielder Cook had a bone in his riht arm splintered by a wtld pitch. Both Cook and Went led the league bitting last ernn. So It 1 easy to s why Maryvill I loalng. y v GIANTS LOSEJIRST PLACE New York Defeated bj Cincinnati by Six to One.
