The terrific clouting ef the Antelopee In ttaa eighth and ninth Innings gave Lincoln the first of the aeries by i to ( score. For seven Innings Lot held the boys from the capital helpless, allowing no hits and no runs. He weakened in the eighth and gave four hits for three runs. In the ninth he was again put on the mound, but was pounded for five hits and three more runs. Lots was the, whole game until he slumped and allowed the Antelopes to tie the three-run lead the Rourkes had gath ered. Captain Schlpke shot him Lack to do the hurling and ha was hammered all over the field. Fox was on the mound for the Lincoln bunch, but was found easy pickings for the first five Innings. Ha then tightened up until the eighth, when he was retired In favor of Wolverton. In the eighth In ning Omaha, gathered another run. which placed them one to the good of their op ponents, but they failed to corns back In the ninth and Were let, down with but ona hit. which prored fruitless. ' On tha who! the Omaha team showed a remarkable improvement over the work of the team which left, here eighteen days ago. The work of Pick, the new third base man, was a revelation to the fans. He was quick and snappy and seemed to fill the whole team with gingtr. Niehoff played like a veteran on the second sack. Williams had but one chance in tha outfield and got away with hat In easy fashion. Fifteen hundred tans, mostly ardent rooters for. tb Rourkes, although there war a few Lincoln rooters present, turned out to witness the fray and were held wonder-stricken for seven long innings by the fast and furious pace with which the game waa going. Grandstand playa, re markable pitching and clever base stealing were rife and the fan were hilarious until the fatal eighth, when the game began to oose away from the hands of the Rourkes. The Rourkes will play the second game of the series , this afternoon and have promised to do or die and to back this up the old reliable Durbln will probably be put on the mound. Omaha opened Its half of the first Inning when Pick took first on an error off Fox. He waa sacrificed to aeoond by Kane, stole third and romped home with the first run on Williams' sacrifice fly to centerfleld. In the second Inning King got to first when Fox threw wild to first. He went to second on Schconover's sacrifice hit to third. Fox , made a wild pitch and King too kthlrd and came home on Agnew'a hit to left. :'. 3, ' v Again In the third the Rourkes made a run. Williams .singled to center, stole sec ond and ambled acroaa the platter on Nte hofrs drive to center for three bases No more Vuna were made until the eighth when Lincoln copped three. Cock man singled to center, and took second on Mill er's an orifice. Thomaa .singled paat second- Scoring Cookmari. Stratton doubled to right and Thomaa went to third. They ' both cored on Fox's single to right, tying tha score. Omaha cam back In the last of the eighth with another, run. 'King tripled to center and acored whan Bchoonover singled to left. Lincoln w.on the game in the ninth when Cole doubled to right and took third when Agnew threw over second. Cobb drew a walk and stole second. Cockman doubled t left, scoring Cole and Cobb. Cockman took third on' Mullet's single past that bag. fuller stole eoeond and Cockman was taught lri the hot box between home and third and tagged by Agnew, and Muller look third.
