May 19 -Trading In stock fell off lars-ely today after three davs of heavy dea lngs and the enthusiastic buvlnir movement appeared to have spent Itself for the time, stocks moved within a nar row margin and closing prices showed small losses for the market leaders. The weakness was nttrllmtable lanrely to the lessened demand from the short Interest, which had covered extensively earlier In the week and to the fact that the higher prices had the effect of diminishing the outKlde demand. The most extensive movements of the dav among the stocks were In Reading and Amalgamated Copper, both of which rose a point only to fall back a Kan Amalgamatrd Copper attracted a large foir lowing by reason of the continued repoi ta of a substantial Improvement In the cop per metal trades. The fertilizer stocks were exceptionally heavy, Virginia-Carolina Chemical. Amer ican Agricultural Chemical and American Cotton Oil all falling back apparently on account of the belief that the terms of the settlement of the potash dispute with Ger man Interests were not s favorable as had been hop-d for. It became known to day that the first of the financing projects of Missouri Pacific In connection with the rehabilitation of the property would be announced shortly and would prol'fcbly take the form of a three-year note Issue of 220.OH0000 or $3S,flno.om. The notes are expected to provide cash for Improvements and betterments for the deht between $.0"O.OHO and $i.ryv.o00. TBADE REPORTS ARE IMPROVED Better Feeling Is oted la Irna and Meet Trad In Spite of flnlrae. lion and Price I onces alona. NEW' YORK, May l!i.- Pun i Weekly Re view of Trade tomorrow will say: Two event of the week have Impoitant Influence in le buslncvs situation, inas much ss they remove much of the uncer tainty which has served to discourse acttvlty. These are the supreme court de cision 111 one of the cases Involving thA st.ttos of big corporations and the anti trust law and the prospects of the restora tion of peace In Mexico. For the first time In manv weeks the re ports from leading trade centers are more buoyant, though It would not appear that the actual stain has been much. This ap pears In the reports from the Iron and steel tisde, where. In spite of contraction and price concessions In pig Iron, a better feellne Is noted, with some Increased or ders from the railroads. It also appears to a limited degree In the textile markets, which report some Improvement, notwithstanding the con tinued ciirtsllment due to the high cost of production and conservative purchases. The export movement of cotton goods con tinues well nhrnd of la.t year and rnoro active buying of printed fabrics has fol lowed the large purchases of print cloths a week ago. Some factors of strength have developed In the woolen goods mar ket. A better feeling pervades the foot wear markets. Fhoe msnufactiirers afe placing larger orders for leather, which would Indlcste that contracts have In creased. Lsrger Individual lots of leather are moved and prices show a firmer trend on some varieties, owing to scant supplies. Hotli Inrge and outside tanners have ad vanced prices on hemlock and Cnion soli'. The domestic hide markets do not show the activity of a week sko, but prices con tinue strong at advances for both packer and country take-off. Foreign hides and skins have received somewhat more sttentlon, ss there ts not the disparity formerly existing between fTurope and the domestic market, the lat ter having advanced appreciably In tha last two weeks.
