Pa Rourks tiss stopped ona of th weak
spots In his lineup.
Csar Niehoff. tha heavy hitting fast
fielding third baseman, who waa with Dea
Mcjlnes last season, and who want to In
dianapolis b'y way of iPttaburg, has bsen
secured for tha third sack position, with
tha Rourke family. He wtll reach Omaha
this morning and will join the team at
either Denver or Topeka, probably th
latter place.
Niehoff's presence wtll be a big telp Just
now. He will relieve Captain Bchlpke, and
enable that player to get the rest his weak
knee demands. His presence on the field
will strengthen Kneavs, who will not have
to cover quite as much ground, and will
thus b steadier In his ttork. When tichipk
gets a llttlo rent for his bad leg, he will
be in condition to go In anywhere on th
field and make a full hand. This will put
Omaha In pretty fair shape..
Th losing streak was broken at Lincoln
yesterday after a hard fight for eleven
innings, Omaha winning th gam by hard
hitting. It. la only fair to hold out tha
hope that th hoodoo ha been quieted If
not actually done away with, and that
from this time on the team ought to get
at least an even break in th luck of th
gam. With rtits It Is certain to coma
home with a much better record than it
haa made on the road. Th tough luk
cannot last forever.
