European markets led to a considerable

steady advance In prlcea. Dry hot weather

the way from a ehade to 7oc. .
The minds of speculators turned again
and again to the large decrease last
month In the world's available supplies, a
falling off of 33.000.000 bushels, compared
with 24.Ono.Oo bushels for the corresponding
time a year ago. The total la thus brought

C AT'i LE Receipts of cattls were large
for a Thursday, 161 fresh cars being re
ported in. Tn4 makea the total for th
four day 18,400 head, the largest of any
similar period sine three weeks ago and
larger than a year ago by about 1.000
head. In spit of th fact that receipta
were so large and that It is th latter
half of the week, the market was in very
fair condition aa viewed from a seller's
standpoint.
Buyers went through tha yards thla
morning, the same aa they have every
day of late, picking out th kind of cattle
that pleased them; that is, the better
grade of light and yearling stuff, at
prices that were fully ateady with y eater
day. On the other hand, heavy cattle, es
pecially those on the coarse order, were
very slow. Still, th market as a whol
dlil not show much change.
Heifer and good cows oa the heifer or
der were In demand at fully ateady prices.
At the sain tlm rough heavy and un
desirable kinds were alow and th tendency
on tbat kind easier. 1
There were not enough stock cattle or
feedera to make much of a market, and
for that reason prlcea did not show much
change. Th demand, however, haa not
been very large for aome tlm back and
the feeling ia that with anything like lib
eral receipta price would be decidedly
lower.

SHEEP There was little complaint heard
from sellers on today's limb market. A
healthy demand existed for offerings with
or without fleece, the most necessary re
quirement being quality. In this respect th
bulk of receipt averaged well tip to a
creditable standard aa fully half of a 6.600
run conalsted of wooled Mexicans. Buyers
operated freely from' the opening and al
lowed prlcea ateady to s shade stronger
than those of yesterday. Midday clearance
of fat slock, both sheep and lambs, was
practically complete;
Mexican lambs of various weights sold
at 326'?.40. the latter figure claiming
credit for top. Western Ismhs In the wool
were sesree snd the spring lamb trade was
barren. Peat shorn lambs of western breed
ing brought So. 25. with good kinds mo-1ng
round 35.00. On or two t rings of feeders
fresh from the range, were svallable, but
the demand for the unfinished article at
present Is seasonably quiet -
Business In sheep lacked volume as w'l
as variety. Ther were not very many old
ewea, old wethers or yearlings on sale
Wooled ewea that promleed to kill out
decently commanded 34-25 and a string of
shorn wethera Bold at the same price.
Phorn yearlings acted well at 34 M. a figure
that may be taken a limit or near-limit
