The market as a whole did not show very much change as compared with yesterday's prices, as most kinds of cattle are also bark about where they were last week. There was a good demand for beef steers this morning, but the market was very un even, buyers picking out such cattle as aulted them at very satisfactory prices and bearing down on others. Thus sellers were quoting the market anywhere from lower to as much as 10c higher In spots. Taking the trade as a whole, however, there was not very much change as compared with yesterday, prices for the most part being about steady. Among the recelpta were some right good well finished beeves that sold at S4.25. Cows and heifers did not show very much change, being as a rule about steady with yesterday. The supply of stockers and feeders was small and there waa no material change In the market. Quotations on cattle: Good to choice beef steers. In consequence the market closed Vi9o lower to a shado higher that last night. Corn finished 4c to He down, oats Ho off to a sixteenth up and hot; products unchanged to 26c below. Heaviness of caah wheat acted as a drag on the whole list of futures, but In particular upon May. The premium nar- rowed on that month to V4c at one time. Bcpiemner meanwhile went atbove July, for the first time this season. A large part of the day's business consisted In the buying of deferred options against aales of May. During the early hours, dry weather talk from the northwest helped the bulls. Enthusiasm cooled later when experts here declared that Minnesota and South Dakota as well as North Dakota all had extra moisture In February and that anyhow It was altogether too soon for a scare concerning dryness northwest. Thereafter the course of prices headed downward. High and low levels for .May- were isai90Hc and SieVngn,. with last' sales at KflT., a net decline of Vii-lc. There was considerable local pressure on corn, so that when wheal turned weak the coarser grains made quite a sharp descent. .
