vened here last week with Judge Thorns
of Columbus on the bench, to try the case
of the Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal
church against John Weems. to recover
IMO, a subscription to the new church fund.
Mr. Weems claimed the subscription was
conditional on the church being built for
a certain amount and according to certain
plans and specifications and to be com
pleted by a specified time. Afterward th
amount was raised, th plans changed and
the tlm extended, o h had asked fnr
his nam to be strlrken fmm the sub
scription list. Th Jury decided m favor of
the defendant and th church will appeal
the case.
Owing to the prominence of the parties
and th question Involved, gregt Interest
wa manifested throughout the trial and
th court room was peeked every day.
