TROTTING BOARD DECISIONS
Record of Constantino Made at New
ton, la., is Corrected.
RULING ON SIXTH HEAT RACB
It Is Mandatory In (sac of 'o De
cision nnd Nebraska City Man
la Refused Mi a re of
CHICAGO, Dec. $ The board of appenU
of the American Trotting association In
session here today made public the follow
ing disposition of cases brought before It:
Ilnventck Case Prominent.
Missouri men and Missouri horses held
the center of the stage. Although 125
cases were considered and passed upon
and action on others deferred until the
May. mil, meeting, greatest Interest was
exhibited by horsemen in the "Duvenlck
case," with California, Mo., as its starting
In brief, the trotting association, which
Is inakinK a searching inquiry Into the
matter, charges that members of the
Duvenlck family controlled a "string" of
horses raced during the season of 1910 on
Illinois, Missouri and southwestern tracks.
These horses, the' association declares,
were entered In races by men who did not
own them and handled in collusion against
the rules of the association.
in some Instances, it Is alleged that an
many as three of the "Duvenlck string"
started In the same race, ostensibly as ths
entries of three different stables. Th a,
soclatlon rules provides that where two
or more horses from the same stable start
In the same race, that condition shall be
plainly specified. .
The men Involved In the case are H. l
Duvenlck. Thomas Duvenlck, R. C. Duve
nlck and William Harrison, all of Cali
fornia, Mo.; Theodore Christian. Center
town. Mo., and J. F. Robards, St Louis,
Mo. Secretary Knight of the board aayg
the names of other men Involved will be
brought out before the spring meeting.
Fire Horses Involved.
Five horses, all ot which have been sus
pended or declared Ineligible, pending In
vestigation, are alleged to have been con
trolled by the Duvenlcks. These animals
are Nathan C, Raymond B., Lulu Allle,
Miss Columbo and Joe Mack. All were
big money winners in varioua race nnd
fair circuits last Beason.
No charge la made that the horaes were
raced under other than their own names
and marks, the cases brought by the rac
ing association being based entirely on
the question of ownership and alleged col
lusion In handling.
Five different cases, against the Duvn
nickar'were taken. The first concerned the
handling of the horses Nathan C. and
Raymond B., by J. F. Robards of Bt
Louis. The second had to do with ths
mare Lulu Allle and her management by
Theodore Christian of Centertown, Mo.
In the third, which Involves the three
Duvenlcks, Robards, Harrison and ths
horses Miss Columbo and Joe Mack, H. 1'
Duvenlck and Harrison were fined $504
each, the horses, with their owners and
nominators, were ordered suspended until'
alleged illegal winnings at Cape Girardeau,
Mo., Carllnville and Carrollton, 111., nra
The other cases agnlnBt ths Duvenlcks
were brought by C It. Webster of Bhreve
port. La., In connection with ths rftc
meeting at Monroe, La., In October. H.
L. Duvenlck and William Harrison, with
the horses, Miss Colombo and Joe Mack,
were specified. The board ordered that ths
money won by the two horses at this meet
ing be returned to the association for re
distribution, according to the rules.
Further Action la Spring.
Further action by the board of appenla
In connection with the Duvenlck oase will
be taken at the meeting next spring, when
it is expected that the history and owner
ship of the horses Involved will have been
Among the members of ths board of
appeals who assisted In probing ths matter
were: W. P. I Jams, president, Terr
Haute, Ind.; Thomas H. GUI, vice presi
dent, Milwaukee; N. J. Colman. St Loulaj.
J. C. Linneman, Lima, O.J O. H. Madden.
Mendota, 111.; F. T. Moron, Detroit; J. C.
Simpson, Des Moines, la., nnd W. B.
Knight, secretary. Chicago.
Among the cases of interest decided by
the board of appeals at this meeting were:
Miss Elyrla, owned by Dick McMahon of
Llbertyvllle, 111., and which was given
second money at the Minnesota state fair
In the 1:17 trot September 6, U09, was de
clared distanced by ths board today. Money
won by Miss Elyrla In this racs was or
dered redistributed. The protest regarding
this race was brought by G. J. Thomas,
Waterloo, la., and I. 8. Smith, Jollet,
John Dewer and John F. Seelay of Cha
nute, Kan., and the hort a Black Diamond,
who were suspended by the Judges at the'
Jackson county fair, Lee's Summit, Mo.,
were ordered reinstated by the board.
William A. Poaey of Coryden, Ky., waa

IOWA CITY. la., Dec. $ Speclal.-Prof.
