PROFESSIONALS IN CONTROL! I.lttle Attention to HeaaaembllnK of t oaaresa and Proposed Method of Tariff Revision Crop Con ditions Improved. NEW YORK. Dec. B. Operations In the stock market today were quiet and feature less. Trices backed and filled within frac tional limits for the most part and the day s business was limited to the profes sional party, which at the moment seems Indisposed to make a move In either direc tion. Such Issues as Atchison, New York Central and i'altimore A Ohio were, sub jected to pressure at times, but responded almost immediately to rapport. Last week a bank statement showing a large loan expansion and a cash loss In excess of all estimates was not well re ceived and probably accounted for the gen eral recessions recorded at the opening. Money is easy at this center, however. Little attention was paid by Wall street to the reassembling of congress and the proposed method of tariff revision. The progress of the British general election excited even less attention, but the con tinuance of the torrential floods In France was lelerred to in their bearing on our exports of foodstuffs to that country. Crop conditions In the west were improved by the heavy snowfall In Kansas, wnlcb prob ably came In time to save much of the wheat planted In October. Some light was thrown on last week's noting In this city of the steel and Iron men by unofficial advices from I'lttsburg which declared. In substance, that the con ference was caller at the instigation of some leading railroad officials who were insistent In their demands that prices be revised downwards. It was Intimated that some readjustment would probably come with the early part of the new year. Honds were steady. Total sales, par value. tl.2!tti,(00. Fnited States bonds were unchanged on call. This meuns that receipts were larger than on Monday of laat week by 8.000 fiead, slightly larger than two weeks ago, but not so large as three weeks ago. They were also larger than a year ago by 2,4u0 head. In r.ddltlon to a good Bprinkllng of warmed up cornfed cattle and butcher Btock there were several trains of western cattle on the feeder order. In fact, there were more webterns In the yardst his morn ing than have been seen In a long time. The offerings of beef steera conalstea very largely of warmed-up or half-fai cornfedH. with a sprinkling of westerns. The market on the cornfeds was generally alow and dull, owing to the fact that cat tle of that description have been selling very hign at this point as compared with other markets, and today, with re.celpts larger than usual of late, packers were able to bear down the market. The result was that sellers were generally quoting cornfed beevea 6U10o lower. What few range beeves there were good enough for beef steers sold to good advantage, with prlcea nominally steady, though there have not been enough cattle of that description here of late with which to make com parisons. Cowm and heifers were also rather Blow and dull, and It would be safe to quote the market on butcher stock generally as slow to 10c lower than last week's close. There were more feeders here than for some time back, there being several strings of range cattle. Everything in sight changed hands about as fast as it was ready to be shown. There were no choice western lambs to put a top on the market and very few- of any kind. A few weighty native lambs sold at $6.65. Oood old welhera, but heavy weights, aold up as high aa $3.90, with heavy yearlings bringing $4.60. uulte a little string of good ewea sold as high as $3.40. The feeder supply was limited to four cars of Utah feeding lambs of pretty good quality, but very burry. The demand for feeders was good, the same as It has been every day, there being more buying orders In the hands of commlaslon men than could be filled. The market on that kind of stuff continues practically steady. It might he well for the country to thoroughly understand that there was noth ing to warrant an advance on killers this morning excepting the light receipts locally. Eastern markets still continue unsatisfac tory. Buffalo reported another big run this morning, with the market very weak, 190. tJfl'U2.l(l lAXM.fioi.Jil limn" 139.4s8.0'6 4J4it.7ll 431.sl4.701 .( atjll 8,U)77.el2 184(,748JI27 SW.IM.OOO 630,1 iO.ooO 6Jl.ua. ,o it) 4n7.jcl,,0X 4ua.76l.IHNJ 4716VU.ia0 60.,V'.tH tHHJ tl5.5Hii.oia) 41,47,000 tn.7.',l!.0X 6'4 .016,000 -fl Jill 44 H tt.l 12 8 - 8.8 - U z l -is I -8.0 tl93 418 6 90 4- 8.8 4-leA 4 4 1(M.24U,1II 44H.Siil . 179, 1'H 4.Jt,0 .-si V.440.7A7 1S31.S.M 2'.ts4J6 'i ,I7I.U ,04 7.lot .OT7.ril 4 JM).1J47 4AXS.6.10 4.61e ill anj7 V kM.6a7 t "in imjO 4S4i.ltt iUl,4i.17 - -44 A im. r.o. )37-i.4il 114 6i-J'H..ki3 g.a lJ,l.47t4 IVI Ovj lB a.
