The feeling mar the seene of the tragedy was to strong against Usco that be was spirited out of the Nodaway county ' jail late yesterday afternoon and brought to Pt. Joseph for safe keeping. The sheriff and a number of deputies accompanied Hasco to Ft. Joseph and he was given the the assistance of local police detective, but nothing that would fasten the crime upon him was obtained. Rasco says that the confession that he murdered Mrs. Kate Baumley in Nodaway county fourteen years ago, for which crime he served a term in the penitentiary was forced from hitn by Sheriff Plxler, now dead, at the point of a revolver, and that he was innocent of that murder. At the autopsy at Barnard late yesterday Coroner Larribe discovered No. 4 shot In Hubbell's skull, and It corresponds with the load contained In a shotgun Rasco bor rowed from a neighbor to hunt with Bun- day. It Is the coroners" theory that Hubbell was shot and his wife and children were clubbed to death with the butt of the gun. The coroner's Jury did not locate the blame. The funeral of the Hubbell family was conducted this afternoon, when the four bodies were placed In one grave. The ser vices were conducted at the home of the dead man's father half a mile from the scene of the tragedy. Nov. 22 The crusnde of Postmaster General H tchcock against "get rich quick" concerns Is expected today to cause a general exodus of fake promoters from the city. The postmaster general Is determined to send to prison this class of promoters, who, he says, has sold to an unsuspecting public Sinn.000,000 of worthless securities In the last five years. Mr. Hitchcock today expressed great satisfaction at the start that had been made and declared the government would drive from the country every "wild cat" scheme to separate gullible Investors from their money. Many arrests are expected throughout the country within the next few dovs. Officials of the Burr Bros, company, Shelton C. Burr, president; Frank I). Tobey, vice president, and Eocene H. Burr, secretary-treasurer, arrested jester day, spent the night In the Tombs tn default of $10,000 ball each. They will be examined on Monday. The members of the Burr company are said to have cleared more i than $15,000,000 in their stock operations. In raids so important that Postmaster j General Hitchcock took charpe In person. Vaughan is treasurer of the Columbia Finance company, which acts as fiscal agent for the Continental Wireless Tele graph and Telephone company, and had charge of the Continental offices In this city. Both raids today are further evidence that the government, In Its warfare against alleged Inveterate swindlers, means business and no longer will be con tent with Issuing fraud orders denying them the use of the malls, but will press for convictions on criminal charges.
