day were very liberal. 8.226 head being re

days up to 89,672 head as against 40,6-8 head
for the same days last week. It will be
remembered that last week's run waa un
usually heavy.
iiie market on killing cattle closed In very
unsatisfactory shaoe yesterday, prices on
both beef steers and cows being quoted 10
DK) lower than thai week before. As
matter of fact plenty of cowa sold fully 26o
lower owing io tne large receipts ot mat
kind of oattle.
Thla morning with another liberal run and
witn tne prospects from Chlcugo, very
discouraging, the market onened alow and
dull, buyers apparently preferring to await
the later advices from other market points
before doing very much business. The feel
ing, to say the least, was weak on all kinds
of killing oattle. Cattle that Just happened
to suit the buyers sold about steady with
yesterday's close. As already noted the
trade waa slow and tha feeling weak.
Blockers sund feeders which sold stronir
yesterday, and were very active, were not
such free sellers today, for the reason
that the week Is drawing to a close, when
the demand ts never so brisk. The feeling
on the most desirable kinds of cattle, that
is, catue mat just nappened to suit the
buyers on account of being of good color
and quality, commanded steady prices, but
oiner graaes were wean as well as slow,

ing around $3.50. with strings that attract
competition from breeders as high as $3.75.
Feeder-trade, viewed as a whole, shows
little change from day to day. Fleshy and
strong weight offerings are favored,- af
course, with common sheep and light lambs
rather alow. This discrimination doea not
nrevent an excellent daily Clearance, now-
ever, as everything la finding a market at
prices noted.

CHICAGO GRAIN AND PROVISIONS
Featares of the Trading; mmd Clowlngj
Price on Boaxd of Trade.
CHICAGO. Bept. 29. Assurance that tha
corn crop everywhere Is now practically
safe from danger of damage resulted In
the lowest price of the season for that
grain and tumbled down quotations for
wheat and oats. Net losses were lHtflHo to
1H in wheat, llo In corn, and Tt.lo to
lo In oat. Provision oloaed at fiQlSo ad
vance to 20o decline.
Much long wheat waa ttnuMated at a
time when the buying had been pretty well
satisfied. There was a higher start due
to unexpected strength at Liverpool. The
bulge, however, was the signal for Im
portant selling here, and the market was
soon overloaded. Northwestern longs, who
bought during the North Dakota crop
scare, were said to be letting go. Predic
tions of lighter shipments from the Ar
gentine and India formed the basis of the
early strength.
A potent Influence was the weakness of
oom, ana there was much selling In conse
quence. December wheat advanced from
9tiHo to 99c, and closed weak at WHli96eC,
a fall of l?o compared with last night.
ine weatner prevailing and prospective,
made the outlook rosy for the corn crop.
December sold from 4Ro to 60c, and at
the close waa steady with 49Mo as the final
quotations. Cash corn was weak. No. 2
yellow closed at 524if,2Uc.
Oats gave way under moderate sales of
miscellaneous longs and by a few large
shorts. December flucuated between 32Hc
and 83To, finishing li&lHo down at 32140.
Tha small packing for the week and the
season made hog products firm, except for
some realising, which caused rib to olose
20c lower to 2Vo higher, and lard 7 Ho off
to a shade gain. Pork wound up at an ad
vance of 5 to 15c
