of his birth.
Molyneux Is the name he got from th
adopted irents. Henry and Hotkey Moly
neux, wTio took him Into their home to
replace a son who was born the day he
was found, September 10, 1&58, am) died
th next day. Both hi adopted parent
are now dead. While they lived Molynia
respected their wishes and did not at
tempt to solv th mystery of hi birth.
It was not until h was 28 years old thai
h even knew that he was not their own
on.
He was then told how the carpet bsg.
fitted with air holes. In which he was left
to his fate, had been found aboard a
tisln on th Amboy division of th Penn
sylvsnia railroad.
A man and a woman bad boarded th
train at Princeton Junction. They occupied
separate cars. The man carried the car
pet bag. He left th train befor it
reached Perth Amboy ferry, and th bag
was found beneath th seat h had filled.
There were no crie from the bag, a sleep
ing potion having been given the child.
There were some 600 or more passenger
who took the ferry to New York City.
Among them was a Mrs. King of Jersey
City, who took th baby to her horn
Tbe following day Dr. Lutklnt, her phy
sician, told her of th loss of the Moly
neux' and hi fear that Mr. Molyneux
would not survive unless sh had a child
to replace her doad baby.
Molyneux believe that on of his par
ent was English, and that he wn born
at Washington. He also has reason to
believe that h was hair to considerable
wealth.
When h started upon th search for
his relative he learned that when he was
between and 7 year old. or just at th
close of the civil war, a tall, 'dark stranger,
who looked very much as he look now,
made Inquiry In Jersey City for an aban
doned baby. He called upon Dr. Lutklns,
and the doctor, who had promised Mr. and
Mr. Molyneux that h would never dis
close the history of thslr adopted son,
misled him and sent him away without en
lightening him. The man said h must find
the child or the record of hi death in
order to settle up a big estate in Wash
ington. When h was 17 year old Molyneux wa
taken before a Justice of peace named
Allen, and Mrs. Molyneux bad him sign
some papers, telling him to be sure to
sign hi full name, "Alfred Summer Moly
neux." He did not know what the papers
contained.
Whan he wa 23 years old, Frederick
Payne, brother of Mrs. Molyneux, asked
him one day to sign two papers, which ha
said were application for a position , at
Washington for a friend. After he had
signed, Molyneux becam susplolou and
asked to se th paper. Payn ordered
him from th office.
Molyneux attempted to compel Payne,
through proceeding in court of chancery,
to disclose the nature of the papers he
igned, but because he could not swear
that he had suffered property los th ef
fort failed.
For over 20 year Molyneux has been
employed by the Lackawanna railroad,
and he now hold a responsible position
at th shore at Hebnken. H married
Anna Elch In 1898. Philadelphia Telegraph.

how wisely and how well the woman dis
tributes the money that the man brings in.

envelopes. The wage earner of th house
hold brings home his pay envelop, keeps
out what he needs for his personal requlrs
ments, and the rest Is left In the wife's
hand to provide the needs of the house

cides what kind of home there will be, h
apportions the rent and selects th fur
niture, sh buys the food and th cloth,
sees to the care and education of th chil
dren, and th welfare of the household 1
proportionate with the wisdom with which
she discharges her responsibility. And it i
surprising with what shrewdness aud
ability sh does it; now, witnout special
knowledge and special training sh so often
not only makes both ends meat, but ha
something left over for luxuries or
emergencies.
