course mere was more or leas unevenness
In prices, some hogs showing more ad
vance than others, not so much because
of the kind or weight, but because thev
happened to take the buyer a fanrv. It will
be remembered that a large proportion of
the heavy hogs sold at 8S.50 yesterdav.
with some of the mushier Inada at 33. 4A
Today a large proportion of these hogs
brought 88 66 and S ft. At the same time
the best light and butcher hogs sold up to
S9.10. which was 5c higher than the top
yeMerday.
1ha market was fairly active at the ad
vance noted above and the big bulk of
the hogs soon changed hands. Tactically
everything, unless It may have been a
few late arrivals, had changed hands at 10
o'clock In the morning.
A comparison with the wny hogs are sell
ing at eastern points, notably Chicago,
will show that prices at this point are
very high. Packer have, In fact, been
complaining that their hogs were costing
them too much at this point, but still they
keep buying them. This morning the Chi
cago market was reported as opening de
cidedly lower, but In spite of that tha
hogs here sold higher as noted above.

SHEEP RecelDta of sheen were again
large this morning, about 20,000 head being
reported In the yards. This In addition to
the heavy runs of the last three days brings
the total for the week up t lio.aro neaa.
As noted yesterday, with over 90,000 head
received In three day, the market was very
active and by 10 o'olock in the morning al
most everything in the yards had been
sold. In fact, no one ever saw a better
market than the one experienced yesterday
n the sheep barn In the race 01 enormous
receipts.
Th a mom ng w th another heavy run in
sight and with the average quality none too
good the market was not quite so active.
Still It was evident that ' packers still
wanted both sheep and - lambs, but there
was a feeling among them that they had
been paying too much money for their
Buplies this week and accordingly a dis
position to weaken the market a little to
day if possible. This made the movement
less active, but still In the end about every
thing sold at practically steady prices.
There was, In fact, not enough change to
quote the market different from yesterday,
excent that it was not so active.
A good any of the buyers ror reeaers
from the outside had evidently filled their
orders and left for home as there was less
Inquiry than yesterday. Still commission
men had a gooa many oraers in nana ana
had the quality of the offerings been a lit
tle more enticing the market might have
shown more activity. As It was the trade
waa a little slow, but the reeling on prices
not much different from yesterday.. A
feeder buyer paid as high as $7.25 for the
oream out of 1,109- lambs for show purposes.
