it not been for a bum play.
With the exception of the fourth Inning,
jvhen the Roorkes alngled twloe for two
runa. the first game was a pitchers' battle.
Jarnlgan. Wichtta a boy wonder, handed out
only six bits and struck out seven men. Ha

attempts resulted In easy grounder to the
infield.
RIgg.rt. first Rourke to bat In the fourth,

little Infield grounder and went to first
when Graham waa caught at aecond on an

and Rlggert went to second. Another easy
fly cloned the Inning, leaving Rlggert
stranded on second.
Wlclhtas solitary, run was made In the
mm. jarnlgan alngled. Mlddleton grounded
to short and took first when Jarnlgan was
nipped at second. Corrldon fuirahled
grounder by Davie, who went to first, send

n.n saw inird, and six, all told, found
their way to second. Every one of the
eignt nits was a single. On top of this.
Rhodes sent, nine Izzles down and out by
the three-strike route. '
Omaha po ended Shackleford for nine hits
in seven Innings, and landed on Wright for
three In the eighth. Rlggert, who hit for
homer in Wednesday's game, awaited
out two three-baggers and a single In four
times up. King hit for three bases and a
single. Thomson lined out a double, and
there were singles galore.
King brought home the one run of the
fourth. He alngled. took second on Shack
