The Omaha Motor club la enlivening the season by dropping Into it an endurance run this month. Nearly all of the local dealers expect to enter. They are going to put their best cars in and their best drivers will be In charge of the machines. This Is really. the only teat of a car, and the work of the Omaha Motor club commends Itself to automobile enthusiasts everywhere. Be cause a car does not come through without a scratch is, however, no sign that it Is worthless. Still, It is pretty safe to say that the car that does make a perfect score is not an inferior car. Last year the endurance run was to Hastings and return. All of the dealers entered and the Franklin was awarded the trophy on a perfect score. It was a great run. It was the first that Omaha dealers had been in and there was speeding to beat the band All of the way the boys were try ing to pass each other and e&ch time a reckless race was the result My, how 71 did Interest the people watching It from the roadside. Guy Smith was the only man who rode Into Hastings with a clean face the even ing of the first day of the run. The tail of his auto coat was a sight, though, some fellow said. Willie Huffman's coat was clean, but his faoe was so dusty that It was hard to tell If he was human until he had had a bath. Lewis Doty, manager for the Maxwell Brlscoe company, is pushing the Maxwell more vigorously than ever. He Is doing wonderful things with the Columbia also. Ernest Sweet-will enter the endurance run wtlh a Moon 80. Sweet was In the last race ' as an observer. He liked It so well us to become a dealer when he had oppon. path last week. He drove a 1911 Cadlllae from Detroit to Chicago in sucn nreas neck time as to make the Chicago paper say that Drummond broke the record. tunlty. Now he will drive his own car and It goes without saying that Sweet will give the boys a run for their money. Lee Huff, manager for the Nebraska Bulck, la sailing along with the Uulck In splendid fashion. W. L. Huffman Is placing more Huptno biles and Interstates throughout Nebraska than were ever placed before. The garage on Harney for the Ford will be completed soon. Manager Gould looks for ward to the tlrhe when his little car will be all snugly quartered In Its own home. The' Speedwell, handled by Capron-Wrlght company, has become one of the popular ears. It It forceful and fast and Is a machine that attracts attention wherever It goes. II. M. Slocum, special representative of the Mason car, is In Omaha shouting at the top of his voice for the Mason. "It's the best two-cylinder car In the United States," says Slocum. Freeland Bros. & Ashley have brouglut In two tralnloads of the cars. Slocum Is In Omaha as manu facturing representative to assist the local dealers. The Mason Is one of the well known cars In Omaha. It has piled up to Its credit some remarkable records as regards speed and hill climbing ability. The arrival of these tralnloads of spanking new machines will be a sensation along auto row. It is understood that these cars will be sold at a reduction In order to Introduce them rap idly and make the Mason the moat liber ally distributed car in Nebraska. In an other column appears Slocum's sensational ad. Colonel Derlght is sitting back enjoying the good things said of the Stoddard-Day-ton. He has handled this car ever since he began to handle any car and it has been the one car that has given him the meet pleasure to sell. "Stoddard-Dayton owners," he said, "are satisfied owners." 'It is a pleasure to sell a good car all dealers agree. They may cost more In the outset, but they are the most economical in the long run. The 1911 models of the Stoddard are far su perior to anything ever put out by the Stoddard people. Mclntyre, the Irishman, is Scotch through and through. When charged with being Scotch, while Irish, he is said to have found consolation In this- reflection: "I sell as many Oaklands to the Irish as an Irishman could," and they say that he really does it Doing the every day things of life and doing them well Is what makes a strong man. This Is William, Drummond's long suit But Drummond got out of the beaten There has never been a more glorious season for automoblllng. 0ner are get ting everything In the world out of their cars, it Is worth It now to own a machine. .... - , . 1 T J t I. Wlgman Is one of these good natured fellows that sees things your way so much that you begin to look at things Wlgman's way. Then Is the time Wlgman sets In his handiwork. "The work of the little Ford medel T ear at Pornt Breeie race track last week was really the sensation of the entire meet." said Manager Gould. 'Competing against cars of higher price and greater power, Frank Kullck, driving the machine, by consistency fought the winners In the several events to the last ditch, and prob ably drew forth more plaudits from the crowd than the mm who carried off the first prizes. "No tonly did this little car push the winners In the shorter distance event, but In the six-hour race thrilled the spectaters by constantly nosing out more powerful and higher-priced cars In brushes that featured the quarter-day grind. "That the six-hour race was the meet successful automobile event ever held In Philadelphia can readily be realised when It Is considered that when the race was declared ended at 10:41 o'clock there were few less than 10,000 people In the stand and strewn around the track. The second event, a ten-mile race, epea to cars of 161 to 300 cublo Inches plstosj displacement, the Otto finished second. with the Ford No. 1 third." IOWA STATE TENNIS TO Conrad Yonnsjr to Act as Refers Omaha Players to Go. Iowa will start Its fifth annual state tennis tournament at the Des Moines Country club, Monday, August 22. The event will be under the Joint auspices of the Iowa Lawn Tennis association and th club, gentlemen's singles and doubles be ing played with consolation rounds in eseh. The Des Moines club has four excellent courts and they are said to be in fine con dition. Conrad Toung, the Omaha tennis eraek, has been invited by the committee to aet as the referee and he and Arthur Serlb ner of Omaha will probably attend, with perhaps some more of the omaha men.' . Fred Bradley of Des Moines holds the championship of the singles at present and W. S. Oilman and C. 8. Carey of Sleui City the doubles title. A .
