CATTLE Receipts of cattle looked small
this morning compared with the large run
the day before and especially so aa com
pared with Monday's heavy receipts. Still
me total lor the four days loots up over
21,000 head, being only about 2,600 " head
mailer than last week's excessive re
ceipt and over 6,000 head larger than for
tne same four day last year.
The offeriTitTS of beef steer wer very
light. There were very few range steer
and a there was a pretty good Inquiry th
feeling wa that anything in the way of
deetrable grass beeves would have com
manded a little stronger prices. On the
other hand th medium kinds ot cormea
which broke sharolv yesterday, while not
overly active today were about gteady. As
already noted several times in these col
umns the better grades of grass beet going
Into direct competition with tha medium
kinds oc cornfeds is a natural tenaency 10
lower the prices of the latter. There were
no strictly prime cornfeds in tne yaras.
Cows and heifers of desirable quality
commanded prices that were generally a
little stronger than yesterday. Buyers
seemed more anxious for supplies and as
the offerings were light the market natur
ally took on a little more life, so that the
trade wa In much better snape than at
the close yesterday.
The feeling on feeder was also good ror
this tlni In th week and desirable cattle
of that description aold a little higher even
than yesterday.

SHEEP Sheen trade acted rather doubt
ful at th opening of the maket this morn
ing but suODlles were Unlit and instead
of making good their bearish threats, kil
ler wer forced to pay generally aianuy
price ror their nurchases.
iiariy rounus wer proauctiva ot very
little trading owing to disagreement over
sales figures and even after movement
started, tha market continued dull and
draggy until the close. Ft Iambs and handy
weight yearlings were scarce, reeoer sorts
were relatively small and heavy wethers
made up a large share of the run. Oood
grass wethers from Montana moved at
14.15, the same a yesterday, and awes sold
as high a $3.76. Feeder price remained
quota bly firm with those of yesterday.
Receipts for the lour days this week,
while they have been liberal, show a de
crease .of a few thousand head from those
of the same day last week. Larger ship
ments are still coming in leader Hash but
lambs' have been running mora freely and
meeting with a very good demand, especi
ally during the forepart of the week. Hulk
of good fat lambs sold at $7.2&tgi7.60, which
prices are only a little lower than those
reported at eastern point. Wether and
ewes are closing strong aa Compared with
last Friday and fat yearlings of handy
Weight are quotable up to $5.50, fully a
quarter higher.
Feeder outlet Is still broad, barring the
demand for lambs, and price a little higher
than a week ago. Uood 'feeder lambs
would sell right around $6.00, but Inquiry
Is not as active as It was on early days
and It Is doubtful if this quotation could
be maintained on a heavy fun. Feeder
yearlings sold as high as $5.00, good feeder
wethers around $3.76, and feeder ewes at
$3.00ig3.26.

Keoordi Show Mr. Culver Owes Nine
Hundred People, with Property
in Wife'! Uame.
Franklin M. Culver of Bnon has filed
in th office of th clerk of th United
State court her on of tha most tcullr
petitions In bankruptcy syer put on th
records, perhaps.
Mr. Culver Is a poultry raiser -. whose
plaoe Is located just outside th city limits
of Benson. He schedules assets of $12,766,
which includ th real property standing in
th nam of his, wife. This, th petition
says, Mrs. Culver I willing to turn, In for
tha benefit of creditors. Tha liabilities total
$12,813.87 and th creditor number over $00.
They are scattered from Main to Alaska
and Include people In Mexico and Canada
and all the territory in between. The
amounts In the majority 'of cases are small,
apparently being money received through
the malls for eggs or chickens which hav
not been delivered.
Mr. Culver was evidently a very extensive
advertiser, Judging from the scope of coun
try In which he gathered orders. No expla-'
nation is offered for the failure to fill the
orders. The Culver ehlckea raising plant Is
quite an extensive affair, from the list of
equipment attached to th petition, one
brooder house alone being listed at $2,000.
Persons familiar with the Culver place say
the later investigation will show that Cul
ver probably put most or all of th mony
received into perfecting the plant,'
