There was lamp selling today by holders
through sheer fright at the rapid melting
away of values, but for the moat part
the selling was done In cold blood and witn
the systematic determination of a surgical
operation.

change In conditions affecting values
pointed to an accumulation of influences
to account for the movement. The absence
of the usual talk of embarrassment on such
occasions was taken to prove the Helling

stock market circle and to represent loses

impairment rather than wiping out of
fortunes.
Occurences In the Immediate news were
dlxregarded. The United States Steel quar

quarterly dividend was taken for granted
and the probable showing of the earnings

The reaction in the corn market pointed
to relief from the more excessive weather
conditions, which were believed yesterday
to be threatening the prospects for the
harvest. The money market was easy and
the rate for call loans ran off to the low
est level touched in several months, while
Influences towards replenishment of the
supply of bank cash continued actively at
work.

another for good mixed and light hogs.
Bacon weights met with (tie popular de
mand a usual and aold at the high prices,
a load of sorted light topping at 18.76.
In a general way sales of good mixed and,
lights carried figures firm to a little higher
In both divisions.. Qood mixed moved
around tS.10, light mixed brought 18.40 and
better and common mixed were hard to
sell at 18.25.
Heavies and heavv nacklnar crades
showed very little action at any time, and
while ateady prices were reallaed in many
cases th tune to trad waa rather weak,
closing prlcea appearing a ahade lower
than those of yesterday. Good heavies sold
around 18.15, with all-sow loads welg-hing
