Murphy, shippers Swift, from Montana Other buyers 12 1,003 Totals 15 2,339 1,003 CATTLE There were no fresh receipts of cattle today of any consequence, but for the week the recelDta have been the larg est of any week this year and not far from double what they were the corresponding week of last year. It might be said In ex planation of . the heavy run that dry weather In the range country and conse quent shortage of feed Is forcing the range men to send In their cattle earlier than usual, and while quite a number of corn- fed and native cattle are still arriving. Thus the total receipts this week were un usually large, ss noted above. Because of the heavy runs prices through the early part of the week broke very sharply on beef cattle of practically ail kinds, though as a matter of course it was the medium and common kinds that suf fered the worst. As receipts yesterday and the day -before were much lighter tn mar ket naturally firmed up a little, so that at the close of the week the best cornteds and the best range steers are not very different from what they were at the close of last week. On the other hand the me dium kinds of range cattle and warmed- up kinds of cornfeds are 20t25o lower. Cows and heifers broke- the same as beet steer enriy its trie week, out tney, too. have shown a little Improvement during the last two days, but still are around la Jj2oo lower than last week. stoekers and feeders suffered tne worst decline of any kind of cattle. The best lieshy feeders, that Is. the kind that pack rs will also bid on, have not shown mucu change, but aside from that the general run of feeders and all kinds of light stock cattle are SO&uOc lower than last week. uuolauons on native came: Good tu uuolce corn-fed stee:. $7.00a7.76; fair to good corn-fed steers, $ii.fc4r7.00; common to fair corn-fed steer, $5.0U.2C; good to choice cows and heifers, $4.'646.76; fair to good cows and heifers, $3.604.76; common to fair cow and heifer. $2.60(313.23; good to cholc stockera and feeder, $4.00.60: fair to good stoekers and feeders, $4.764ji4.25; com mon to fair stoekers and feeders, $3.oa $.75; stock heifers, $3,0043.85; veal calves. HOGS A good part of yesterday's ad vance was lost In the hog yards this morn ing on a fully normal supply. Trade was featured by uneven prices, however, and It was pretty hard to tell Just where th market was. Sales ranged from steady to a dime lower In both 'divisions, good bacon and mixed grades selling at quotably firm figures at the opening, while the balance had to move at declines of 64$10o. Shippers bought cautiously, competition was rsther slack between killers, and while movement was not very active the big end of the run changed hands In very good season. Heavy and rough heavy kinds bor th brunt of th decline, as might be expected. prices ranging from $8.108.25. Mixed went at $8.30-38.40 and lights sold on up as high as $8.86, steady with yesterday's top. Range was wide and bulk scattered, $8,2018.43 embracing the larger strings. Supplies ; are holding up decidedly well for mid-summer, the week's run showing good Increase over either last week's receipts or, those of the same week last year. Discrimination between lights and heavies has been severe at all times and the character of offerings Is very un even a 76o range has developed. Current sales average ud about 6010c higher than those oi a week ago, neavies selling in much the same notches, while lights and mixed are all of 1025o higher. Representative sales No. Av. BU. Pr.
