Raps Talkof
Gotch Fighting
Farmer Burns Declare There ii
Nothing: to Rumor of Wreitler
Trying: to Meet Johnson.
"I don't think there la a thing to this
talk of Gotch tranlng to fight Jack John
son," said Farmer Buros, dean of the mat,
the man who brought out Gotch and made
hint the world's greateet wrestler and who
helped train Jefferles.
"Why should he?" added the Farmer.
"Frank la a wrestler, not: a fighter and,
though in a rough and tumble I think he
could whip Johnson or Jeff, yet In a fight
where he had to. bog aocording to rules
he'd have no more show than you or I.
"I see J Ira Corbett Is talking about bring
ing Frank out. but I think It la just Ulk.
If Frank over had such a notion be never
told me and he talked over , his affalra
with me at Reno. He aaid he waa retired
for good, and he even went so far as to
say before the fight .that he would not
make the tour of the world planned In
case of Jefferles winning. . Bo don't think
he has any notion of entering the fight
ing business. . .
Wrestling is different from fighting and
why should a man who has beat the world
at his own game try to get Into a game he
knowa nothing about?"
Burns still feels badly, over Jeffs defeat
and la certain that some vital organ gave
way and let the big; fellow down.
"It wasn't his head," he said, " tie could
think, but he could not execute. ' It la a
ad affair."

MAY POOL J0BACC0 - CROP
Sentiment Favors Such Action
Though Crop of 10 la Wot .
Sold or Graded. , .
LEXINGTON, Ky., July 13.-Th district
board of the Burley Tobacco society, wlUt
representatives present from sixty or more
oounties, convened her today to consider,
among other questions, the prospects for a
sale of the 1909 crop.
Sentiment seems to be strong for an
other pool this year, despite the fact that
not a pound of ths 1908 crop has yet been
sold or even graded. Negotiations are paid
to be progressing for th sale of 10,000,000
pounds to Independent factories, but this
could not be verified.
