HOGS Light and llglit mixed grades sold
at prices pietty close to a iiicaei higner
In both divisions this morning, out heavy
hogs were neglected and had to move at
quotably steady figures, the market clos
ing weak on all classes of stock.
llecclpts were light as compared wim
early runs this week and quality ranged
from rough and extra heavies to smooth
lights, the latter kind ot hogs selling at or
near the top of the list. Both packers and
shippers bought freely and movement was
fairly active until late rounds, when the
market developed an easier tone.
Heavy nogs commanded so.iwvs.io, wun
extreme heavies as low as $9.00. Mixed
lots went around $3.2(Xi(0.30, according to
quality, and lights ranged from $9.30u9.40,
which was tne nignest price paia. a large
share of recelpets changed hands at $9.16
9.35.
The week In the hog yards has been one
of heavy receipts and widening prices.
Lights hogs are closing just about steady
with a week ago, while heavies are fully
a dime lower. Demand has been broad and
active on most days and, while shippers
have not bought very freely, practically
everything has sold on the day of arrival.

SHEEP There was nothing on sale today
In the way of sheep or lambs and the mar
ket remained nominally steady.
in most respects the trade lately has been
much the same as it was last week. De
mand has beerl very dull from the opening,
killers' orders seasonably small and the
trend of prices lower. Receipts have been
liberal, the bulk consisting of range sheep
and quality on an average nas oeen none
too Rood.
Trade has been uneven, of course, and
any positive decline Is hardly quotable,
in a aeneral way. ewes, wethers and year
lings are selling about 25&50c lower than at
last week's close, really good grass weth
ers moving around $4.65. Not many year
lings have been coming, but something
strictly choice that would break well
would Drobably command $5.76 or better
The Droporllon of spring lambs has been
relatively small, but eastern markets have
been getting more springers man tney
rould conveniently handle and local trade
has suffered sccrdlngly. Prices are all of
2I&50C lower tnar a wee a ago ana inquiry
is decidedly backward at this decline.
Feeder trsde Is beginning to show more
activity a ad oiienngs mat are suitable
for feedlot and pasture are selling on much
the same basis aa fair quality killing Hock.
