The most Important action of the closing
day was the establishment of a traffic
bureau which will handle all questions of
shipping rates and all claims against rail
roads in which members are interested. An
auditing commission will be appointed for
this purpose. The association voted to In
crease the annual dues on the capital stock
of the companies that are members. The
Increase, however, affects only the larger
members.

The building committee of the Fraternal
Order of Eagles held an Important meeting
at the Commercial club rooms last night to
consider the proposition of a site for the
proposed 375,000 aerie building. Bids were
received for fifteen or more prospective
sites, ranging in price from $19,000 to $5,000.
Most ot these were located on Twenty,
fourth street. The committee, after due
consideration selected six propositions to
present to the order as their choice. The
several properties were the J. F. Oood
property, north of the Packer's National
bank; the ONcll-McCrann property, south
of the city hall; the Carpenter property,
between O and N on Twenty-fourth street;
the McCrann residence and property; the
John Doe property, at Twenty-fourth and
J streets and tho Harry Tavendor prop.

and Twenty-fifth. .
The South Omaha Eagles have a mem
bership of over 700 and a building fund of
$8,000 in tho treasury. It is proposed to
buy a site in a favored business locality
and locate there a three-story Dunaing.
The lower floor Is to be rented for store
purposes and at the rear proDably a thea
ter. The second floor will be the club
rooms and probably some business offices.
The third floor will be the lodge room
and Its accessories.
It Is proposed to Issue stock for the
building and this will be sold to the mem
bership. Some of the propositions for a

New Car Lino Completed.

pany and will go into effect early in the
coming week. The proposed new Una will
pass from Thirty-sixth and L through the
Union Stock Yardi and north on Twenty
fourth street, making a cross-town connec
tion with Florence. This will make one of
the longest lines In the city: It Is pro
posed that the via Twenty-fourth street
cars continue north at Leavenworth.
Charles Remcr Cnte Foot.
Charles Remer, an employe of the Hoff
man Independent Packing plant, cut his
foot severely with a clearer Wednesday
afternoon. He was splitting a carcass when
the cleaver slipped and went into his right
fooU He thought that he had crippled him
self permanently, but on examination It
was found the foot was partly split in the
direction of the metatarsal bones and not
transversely. The wound will probably
heal safely In a few weeks. Remer was

ous riot with the Chicago Great Western
construction force today. Over eighty
Greeks attacked a gang ot laborers who
were trying to double-track the Waterloo,
Cedar Falls & Northern track at a crossing.

weapons. Two laborers were seriously In
jured. To avoid further trouble, C. D.
Cass, general manager of the road, signed
