HOGS-Fully half of the hogs sold at
firm, prices at the opening of the market
this morning. Order buyers needed only a
few loads and the bulk of receipts went to
packers, the long strings oostlng 19.369 40
the same as Saturday. Demand was fairly
actlvo and th. big end of supply changed
hands In very good season.
Slightly lower advices from thn
exerted a depressing Influence on the trade
lowara ine close and practically all of the
late business was dona at flauraa ik .
a nickel lower, about twenty loads sell.
Ing on this basis.
Total supply was limited, bulk going at
t9.36a40 and tops remaining the same as
at last week's close, 19.45

BHEkP There were only a few loads of
lambs on sale this morning, and with qual
ity only medium, killers did not show very
much interest In the offerings. The best
lambs here sold a llttlo higher ".nan the
same class of stock last week, topping the
market at $8.40. Shorn lambs of light or
handy weight and prime quality are
quotable up to $8.65. about 10c or 15c higher
than extreme high quotations last Friday.
Nothing of consequence was received to
day in the way of ewes or wethers, and
the sheep branch of the trade remained
nomlnallly steady. The supply of big mut
tons Is of little account at present at all
of the leading trade centers. Most of the
larger feeders In the middle west cleaned
up the bulk of their stuff some time ago
and the recent slump in values has nt
served to encourage the marketing of the
tew snipments still in the country.
