Honors in First Annual Meet
of Association.
INDIANAPOLIS, Hid.. May 16. The first
annual national championship races of the.
American Automobile association will be
run on the polished brick; course of the
Indianapolis speedway, May 30.
Twelve events are offered for national
championships, covering the range of the
subdivisions of Class B stock chassis cars
with piston displacement of from 160 to 750
cubic inches. In addition, two evens are
offered in Class D, free to gasoline cars
of all descriptions. The distance are five
and ten miles. The Memorial day program
will Include a fifty-mile race.
A hundred mile free-for-all race will be
the feature for Friday, May 27, and on
Saturday May 2$, will be run a 200-mlle
race for a trophy valued at 88,000, which
was called off lust summer on account
of the fatal accidents that attended It.'
The programs of Friday and Saturday will
be completed w'th competitions In all
classes.
With the newly added grandstands and
other collateral buildings, lnatlilne shops,
garages and balloon and aeroplane houses,
the Indianapolis speedway becomes tho
most complvtely equipped plant of its

part of the time the I'lte -r-colleglate state
track meet Is In progress here May 26 and
27. Members of bands connected with tho
Mitchell, Huron, Brookings and Vermilion
colleges will attend. The attendance Is
likely to exceed that at former meet by
many hundreds, as the program of events
Is eeiunl to that presented by colleges of
gifater prominence In the athletic world
than those constituting the Huron meet.
