Notice is hereby given that the Board of
Directors of the Kimball Irrigation District
has declared its intention to sell and will
sell the entire Issue of the bonds of said
district heretofore authorized to be issued
by said board and by the electors of said
district, to-wlt: The sum of Two Hundred
and Fifty Thousand ($250,000) Dollars or any
part of said issue, at the office of said
board on the corner of First and Chestnut
Streets 'in Kimball, County of Kimball and
State of Nebraska, on Saturday, May 14,
1910, at the hour of 12:00 o'clock noon. Sealed
proposals will be received by the board at
Its said office for the purchase of said
bonds until the day and hour named above,
at which time the said board will open
the proposals and award the purchase of
the bonds to the highest responsible bidder
or bidders, the board, however, reserving
the right to reject any and all bids. No
bonds can be sold by said board at less
than ninety-five (95) per cent of their
face value. The , said bonds are payable
in from ten to twenty years and bear six
per cent Interest, payable semi-annually;
both Interest and principal being payable
from assessments levied upon all the real

tial home ot J ease A. Quick was com
pletely demolished at midnight last night
by a charge of dynamite which had been
placed under the front porch, directly be
neath the sleeping apartments of Dr. Alex:
ander A. Hall and his young wife, formerly
Miss Myrtle Quick, whom he had just mar
ried. Miss Mary Gutherie ot Carthage, III., was
arrested, suspected of having set off the
charge. It Is understood here that the two
were former students at Wettmer college,
Nevada, Mo., and that they were at one
time engaged to be married. None of the
occupants of the house were injured, al
though the magnificent home was com
pletely torn to pieces, i It was valued at
$12,000.

way to the penitentiary with a condemned
murdere rtoday, Deputy Sheriff Riley of
Yuma found a youth giving the name of
Harry Clalrborne In trie act of changing
from women's to man's attire at Marlopa
Station.
The boy, who said he was 17 years old,,
had a full feminine outfit in a suit case,
Including a blonde wig and high heeled
shoes, and declared he had made his way
from his home In Wichita, Kan., disguised
as a girl. Ililey said the Los Angeles
police had notified Arisona officers that a
youth answering 'the description of Clai
borne was wanted in that city for murder.

The Turlington br.dgaover the Platte river
between this city and Omaha was de
stroyed by fire this afternoon. The fire, It
is believed, originating from spar Irs from a
passing engine dropping out of the fire
box. It is a wooden structure spanning
the broad river where it Is one stream and
is about 3,0.10 fret long. At the local of
fices of the Burlington It is stated that the
ml ire bridge is going.
Traffic wll be detoured from Aurora
to Central City hence via I'nlon Pacific to
Grand Island until a now bridge can be
built. The same bridge loat a considerable
section by fire about four years ago after
which the structure was considerably short
ened by means of long fills at both ends.

gloom was repeated in the Boss' counte
nance as he glowered over his livening
paper.
The Boss' wife sat across the table from
him sewing, and yawning at Indiscreet in
tervals Indiscreet . because, if there was
one thing the; Boss disliked more than be
ing bored himself it was seeing his wife

"When'a the funeral?" he Inquired caus
tically. "What funeral?" Innocently asked the
woman.
"I don't know whether It's yours or

Applications that will penetrate the pores
of the scalp are efficacious to use when
the hair Is thin or when It begins to fall,
and as grease has potent qualities for such
purpose it Is usually resorted to, especially
when age begins to thin locks about the
temples, the part of the scalp where
women's hair is first to show evidence of
advancing years.
Lanollne is an excellent food for the
scalp. It Is more than a tonic, or strictly
speaking it not a tonic, for It nourishes the
scalp by feeding the tissues. Lanollne Is a
natural food, too, as It Is a product of
mutton, a fat that Is found near the root
of the wool. Lanollne can be bought In
tubes at any drug store, and must be mas
saged Into the bald or thin portions of the
scalp every night for several months. Its
action will be slow, but it Is almost always
beneficial.
Animal fats are more approved for hair
treatment than Is petroleum In the opinion
of many experts. Yet petroleum, which in
cludes vaxeline, is undoubtedly good, and
Is absorbed. The theory that the pores are
clogged by it Is an error, and the fact that
it is quickly taken up by the tissues Is
one reason for its value. ' On the other
hand, there Is no doubt that bear's grease,
lard freshly tried and marrow are favor
ably and are not disfiguring In effect when
put on with Judlrlous care, parting the
hair often and rubbing the application with
the finger tips on tha line of tho scalp laid
bare for the purpose.

inquired anxiously for new points of in
terest. "Have you rode in the roller chairs?"
asked the young woman, polishing vigor
ously. The Boss nodded.
"Did you have your picture took? Did
you see the billion dollar pier?"
To each of these Inquiries the Boss gave
doleful assent.
"You're from New York, aren't you?"
