be a consolidation of the clerical positions
in the southern Iowa federal district fol
lowing th resignation of Clerk E.'R. Mason
of the circuit court The plan is. to have
Clerk MeArthur of the district court also
appointed for the circuit court. For many
years Mason '' was ' clerk of both courts,
but for political reasons the offices were

A small party of newspaper men from
Indiana came to Des Moines today and will
devote a day or two to a study of the
practical workings of the commission form
of city government as It has been developed
her. They were entertained by city offi
cials and - shown what great things have
been accomplished.

avenue and Twelfth street last night The
water main broke and permitted a torrent

boldt and Adair. He spoke a number of

that the farmers are greatly Interested In
reform proposals as affecting the schools
of the state. He will continue the work
