'' A small strike occurred among the Ice cutters at Seymour lake Wednesday and Thursday. The men to the number of about forty quit work on a demand for 20 cents an hour. This number was only a small portion of the forca of nen work ing and it is reported that new men arrived promptly to take the place of the strikers. The present wage Is 17vi cents an hour. No further trouble was reported yesterday. Carter to Build Church. N. E. Carter of South Omaha has been given the contract for the construction of the new Presbyterian church' at Twenty third and J streets. His bid was IM.735 for tho work of construction. He was not the low bidder, but was the low man of th South Omaha contractors and this point was in his favor.
