First robbery, and then worse, are the bandit's desires. In the one he is defeated by his own amazement at the sudden revelation of the woman's beauty; In the seoond, by her securing, after much clever cajoling, his knife with which she stabs him. There Is no spoken word in the sketch and It tests, as pantomime always does, the ability of the actors to tell what they are thinking- and feeling without say ing it. Senora .Guerrero is wonderfully alluring In a physical way and the cap'.i vatlng of the bandit seems perfectly reason able. Jointly headlined with this exotic is the musical comedy "At the Country Club," an offering of Jesse L. Lasky, who Is vaudeville producer almost without rival. Those who remember '"The Night on the House Boat" -and "The Planophlends" will testify to this, atifl the present offering Is better than either of those. Country club atmosphere Is reproduced with delightful fidelity and the players and singers In nowise tend to destroy the illusion, but rather to vivify It. In the leading roles are Jarvls Jocelyn, Frank O. Thornton, Ben Mulvey and Miss Eulalle Jensen, all of whom are altogether excellent. Miss Jensen does some Inimit ably clever burlesquing' of the conven tions of melodrama, grand opera and acro batics. . She Is a young woman, with all the more frequently met charms of appear ance, and has besides an unrivalled car riage. Mr. Mulvey has the chief comedy part and Is genuinely and legitimately funny.
