paid want ads over the.
cor
Of course, Omaha ia growing, hut more
people are using Bee want ads, heeause they
are read in most every one of of the 42,000
homes reached by The Bee.
Our nearest Omaha competitor gained
but 16 columns, giving them credit for their
free help wanted, indecent advertisements,
clairvoyant and other frauds excluded from
Bee pages.
The reason why Bee want ada bring such
tremendous returns is that. The Bee goes to
the homes, where eople really read the pa
pers. There are thousands of homes where
The Bee is the only paper ever admitted, be
cause Belf-respecting people want a clean
paper.

THREE CLASSMATES MEET
AFTER HALF A CENTURY
Hold Reunion for First Time Bine
Graduation Fifty Venn
Asjo.
Fifty years ago sixty-two young men
the class of '59 were graduated from old
Jefferson college, at Washington, Pa., be
fore the union of Washington and Jeffer
son and three of those young men were
Stephen Phelps, J. C. Kelly and W. D.
I'atton.
Like other college graduates, these went
their ways to take up the work of life In
more practical fields. It so happened that
these three young men entered the min
istry of the Presbyterian church.
Yesterday the Rev. J. C. Kelly of the
Huntington (Pa.) PrtsbyDry, dropped Into
Bellevue to see his old friend. Rev.
Stephen Phelps, and Dr. Phelps brought
him up to Omaha, where Uiey called on
Rev. W. D. Patton.
It was their first meeting: In Just fifty
years, the yflrst since that day so filled
with significance to the sixty-three young
men who went out from the old Pennsyl
vania school, and It was made a memor
able reunion.
All the men are well past their three
score and ten. Many things have happened
since their last meeting, at least enough
to supply them with topics of conversa
tion for a much longer reunion than they
bad time for. The civil war has been
fought, secession has come and gone, sla
very has been abolished, the republican
party established, three presidents of the
United States assassinated and the popu
lation and territory of the nation mul
tiplied many times since these meu tjnet.
Since these men met electricity as a com
mercial factor, telephonea, modern trains
and street cars, the btg nowadays business
buildings all the great modern Improve
ments and conveniences, have come and
become old.
Very naturally, most of their conversa
tions were along reminiscent lines.-
It developed from their exchange of
notes that nineteen of the old class of
sixty-three are yet living.. The old days on
the campus of alma mater came In for
much affectionate discussion.
Eleven years ago a reunion of this class
was held, but only eleven members were
pri-tent.
