Th lirw William Morris theater building
will be located at the northeast cyrner of
Elghteeulh and Douglas streets, the old
Itaatwom homestead, according to an an
nounceinent made by Walter H. Seely, vice
prsstdent and general manager o4- the
western corporation of the company.
Mr. "Seely Thursday morning closed a
deal Hh J- Brandels & Bona for the
old fianecom property.
"IVa will begin moving the houses Monday,"-,
said Mr. Peely and the work of
excavating will start witnln a few days.

Chicago at present, tut will open up soon
, In Denver, Salt Luke, Los Angeles, San
Francisco, Portland, Tacoma, Seattle and
. Spokane. Mr. Seely haa already gone to
Kansas City to negotiate for a site there.

County Hospital

With insane patients at the county hos
pital forced to sleep pn matresses laid on
the floor, with the superintendent of the
state hospital at Lincoln declining; to re
ceive a patient because he has no room.
Douglas county has now a good illustra
tion of the immediate need of soma pro
vision for the care of Its Insane.
Bertha Wlckes, a middle-aged women
picked up by the police on the streets, Is
lying on the county jail strapped and
bound because of her violence. She has
been arrested on an insanity charge and
her case awaits treatment, but there Is no
place to send her. Superintendent Wood
ward of the Lincoln hospital was called by
phone by District Court Clerk Robert
Smith and Woodward replied that hs sim
ply did not have room and must refuse, her.
O. Fred Elsasser, superintendent of the
Douglas County hospital. Is authority for
the statement that Insane patients, though
not of the violent kind, must perforce sleep
on the floor, because of the almost total
lack of facilities. Violent patients for
whom there are but one or two rooms,
have to be attended by regular staff phy
sicians and nurses who can Hi afford tak
ing the time from other inmates of the
hospital.
The Board of County Commissioners rea
lises that something must be done and that
it ought to be done at once, but has no
definite plan.
"We shall take some steps at once
said V. J. Trainer, "for we realise the ur
gent neceslsty. Douglas county must pro
vide a hospital for its Insane and must
provide It at once."

bears credentials purporting to be from
certain publications, testifying that he. has
undertaken the long trudge in their behalf.

William Uilbralth, a colored man. was
brought up in the criminal branch of the
district court on a charge of forgery. The
county attoiney is exceedingly eager to
convict Oalbrath this time, for he has
been up on other charges when the prose
cution that It had a first-class case, but
the Jury ruled otherwise.

of tho case which Is unusual when the In
dictment Is for one of ihe less serious of
fenses.
