PKNER, Colo., Sept. 19 Topeka won the first game of today's double-header and at one time had the aecond game appar ently safe. But Denver wok up and played the beet uphill - ball seen here for a long time, tlelng the score. The last Inning, the eighth, was played In semi-darkness, but Umpire Derrick held the men to their work. In. the first game the fine pltchng 'of Wright was largely responsible for Den ver's defeat. He kept the hits down to a small number and badly scattered. Topeka was able to score almost at will. The second . was. a . ball game. Denver tried out a . young pitcher, who showed good form. He was hit pretty hard, which, with the unsteadiness or his support, gave Topeka a good lead. ' Durham was put In his place and Denver took a brace. Hard hitting, fine base running and grand field ing permitted Denver to get a tie and pre vented Topeka from Scoring any further. Soore, first game: . DENVER. AR. R. WEST. LEAGUE. AMUR. ASS'N.
