Denver could not bit effectively In tha first game and Des Moinea played so poorly In the second that the result today, waa a break-even. The Dee Molnea pitchers were most to blame In the second game, as they al lowed men to walk just before other men were ready to hit. Dwyer's three-base bit in the first in ning Wat the hit that won the first game, at it was tha hit that drove In the run, In the second half of tht saint inning. Denver made three hits, one of them a three-base hit, but could send only one man over the plate. From that time on It waa a battle between pitchers, both men doing finely when men were on bases. Tha only tally after the first came in the eighth Inning, whan ball hit by Williams bounded away over Hartman s head most unexpectedly and tht runner came in on McGregor s tingle. Denver took the second game early, do ing the work In tht first inning. Durham passed two man, both of whom were ad vanced on Caasady'a sacrifice, and scored on Jonea' single. The subsequent Droceed- lngs served only to Increase the lead of the locals. When Durham went to tha bench, Blersdorfer took his place, and when Denver hitters were through wel coming him, Bens took up the work. The last named stopped the free hitting of Denver, but it was after the game waa safely housed away, score rirst game: DENVER. A B. R. H. P.O. A Maag, lb Belden, If Caasady, rf...
