Latter Innings.
DENVER. Aug. 12 -Pueblo rot a lead In
the seventh Inning of a game that had been
remarkably free of hitting up to that time.
by batting In four runs with five hits. In
the eighth Denver began a fusillade against
uaigano, earning two runs In that Inning.
In Uie ninth four hits In order, one a three
bagger, drove In three runs with no hand
down. These event practically tell the
wnoie atory, as during the other lnning.8
there was a dearth of hitting, mixed Willi
remarkable fielding. Stankard spoiled what
looked like a sure hit for Clark In the first
Inning by running toward first, knocking
down the ball and getting It to first in
time. Wasson, covering first, muffed the
ball. Miller waa given first and Corhan
drove a fast one almost over second base.
Stankard also knocked this one down, got
u to nartman at second, who passed 11 on
to rirst, completing a double play and pr
venting a scor. When Pueblo opened on
Wasson In the sixth, Locke started with a
tnree-bagger, with singles by welgart. Cial
gano and Curtis, and a double by Spencer
orougnt in me lour run. Wasson was
taken out during the rain of hits, but
Adam wa at first unable to atop It. Then
came Denver two run in the eighth and
two men were on bases when Maag drove
a long fly to left. Pueblo made a run In
the ninth, driven In by Spencer. Then came

Old Trot.
CLEVELAND. Aug. 13 Mediocre racing
made the third day of the grand circuit
meeting at North Randall uninteresting to
day. The day was dark and cool and the
classes were slow.
Jack Mcierron proved the surprise of
the day, winning th second rnce. the 2:19
trot. In straight heats. Marie N. was the
favorite, selling at 82S to $18 against the
field. Friends of Jack McKerron bet
heavily on their horse. Marie N. was
unable to finish well and thus she lost the
race. A mammoth horseshoe was presented
to Bert Shanks, the winner's driver, after
the race.
When Silver Baron, the favorite In the
1:10 trot, finished last in th first heat the
judge questioned Carroll's driving and de
clared all bets on th race off. Ed Geers
then replaced Carroll. Silver Baron broke
repeatedly under Geers' driving and f nlshed
fourth with an effort, thus proving the
horse out of condition. Dr. Jack won each
heat by a large margin.
Country Jay will attempt to lower the
world' trotting record of 2:13 under
