SANDERS' CAREER IN BOX BRIEF
From tltrhea for Visitors and Holds
Omaha to lnale Hit t'atll
F.fahth, When Alderman
la Oral la.
Orraha.' J; Hons City. T.
Th Sioux hit the ball and the Rmirkes
:ould not.
That ii the whole etftry of the third
game of the series which M won by
those restless Poo. who persisted In pound
ing two of Pa's premier pltrhers all over
the lot.
Panders, started out to work, but did not
Inst lone. Pmlth oprnd on him with a
double, and after he had died at third
on Campbell' grounder to Panders, An
dreas hit . to Davidson, but the new man
ran In and the ball scooted by him for
three sacks. Manager Fox did not watt
a minute, but pulled Bandera out and
sent Lower In. That sturdy youth got
away with tha Inninc all right, and for
three more Innings ha held tha Boo safe.
Then the bombardment began.
Trom pitched better than he knew how
11. through the game. He relied entirely
on his speed and cot away with It until
'.he eighth inning, when the Rourkea woke
up and forced him to retire In favor of
Alderman, who held the game aafe the
rest of the route.
Quite an argument came up in the
spenlrg Inning, when Banders retired.
Holmes had announced to the scorers that
Rhea was to catch and that he would bat
In right position In the batting order.
After Sanders retired and Iower was
.-nlled In. rmrkv changed his plans and
Font Towne to hat. Vox maintained that
he had to stlcV to his batting order, but
t'mpire Clark held that, as the men had
not been to bst yet, Holmes had a right
to send them up In any order he choose.
The wisdom of sending Towne In Instead
of Shea waa shown right away, for
Towne knocked a long sacrifice fly on
which Andreaa scored from third. He
afterward got two hlta In the game.
Rail- In Eighth Flasle.
The Rourke family could not hit From.
The only hit made for seven innings was
by Lower In the third after two were
down. In the eighth Omaha made a alight
rally, and for a time looked dangerous,
but Alderman was called in and saved
the day for Ducky. Fox reached first In
the eighth on a hot grounder which Hun
ter fumbled. King followed with a three
sacker. which scored Omaha's first run.
Kane popped one to Andreas and Welch
waa hit for the second time. Pendry
scored King with a single and Welch went
to third. Holmes thought he had better
be safe than sorry, so he yanked From
cut and called upon Alderman.
A .neat little squabble ensued at thla
point. Fox had called upon Hollenbcck to
hit for Davidson. When Ducky saw this
he motioned for Alderman to go In. Fox
changed and sent Schipkc to bat, when
Holmes changed and had From stay. The
"ump" ruled that Hulmes had to make
the flist move to break the deadlock, and
Alderman went on with the game.
