I An enormous crowd Is sure to see to
j day's game, for the seat sale has been
great. There Is a difference of only three
games between Sioux City in first place
and Omaha in third, and the rivalry Is
keener than ever. Today's game Is the
first of a series of eight, four In Omaha
and four In Sioux City. If Glenalvln can
he kept out of the series the games will
be rattlers. Omaha Is In excellent shape
for this supreme battle. Sioux City has
been doing some shaking up. Campbell
j ib koimk; to i.incoin tor June ana jonn-
son, the W innehago. Johnson lost his first
game yesterday.
ritcher Rochelle. whom Pa bought from
Washington, has not yet shown tip. Rut
Pa expects now to make 'em go harder
than ever and be at the flag-raising when
the time comes. j
Call Them ow the Foxy Ronrkes.
Billy Fox will appear at Vinton Street
park this afternoon for the first time as
captain and manager of the Omaha team.
He will play second base.
President Rourke completed the pur
chase of Fox from Lincoln yesterday, giv
ing xi.giD in cash for him. He agreed to
let Lincoln have Pendry until It could get
another second baseman, but Schipke hurt
has had knee In the game at Lincoln yes
terday and Pa was afraid to leave Pendry.
schipko will play this afternoon If his
knee Is t o worse, and If he continues In
good shape Pa will send Pendry to Lincoln
until the gap there is filled.
Pa Is glad to let go of the bench man
ager's Job.
Pa was surprised at Don Despain for
letting go of Fox, and so Is everybody
else who knows anything about base ball.
Fox Is undoubtedly the premier second
baseman of the league, an all-round sea
soned ball player, resourceful and versa
tile, a good leader, and was the backbone
of the Prohibitionists. Of course Despain
is a novice In base ball: his experience
dates from a couple of week ago, when
he succeed od Guy Green aa senior pro
prietor of the Lincoln team. Because of
this and because of his interest In the
welfare of th entire league. President
Rourke did not attempt to push th Fox
deal after he saw what a serious blow
it would be to Lincoln, but this fact didn't
seem to weigh heavily on the young man
at the head of the Prohibs, and In spite of
advice to the contrary he let go- of Fox.
Rourke. of course, Is happy to get Fox,
and Fox Is delighted with the deal.
, It looks like Despain is trying to make
a little ready money by selling players.
Fox has always been a. popular man In
Omaha, and he will become more so now
that he Is to wear an Omaha uniform.
His coming gives to Omaha not only a
good leader and crack second basepian.
but one of the best base runners and a
pa.stmaster at the Inside game. He has
had major league experience and knows
all there Ik to know about base ball.
fox did not come up with the P.ourkes
from Lincoln last night, but will be here
this morning. He Is enthusiastic over his
situation and eager to start things off
against the Sioux.

LINCOLN, Aug. 7. (Special Tele,
gram.) Omaha made it four straight
from Lincoln by taking .today's game
without any effort. The Prohibitionists
lmply could not hit. Ixiwer. which tells
the story, unless there Is meat in the
fact that Omaha heat the head off Na
si. Lower was Invincible, except in one
Inning and then was far too effective
for the Prohibs. They managed to ftll
the bases and could get but one man
over the plate. Lower held them to fle
scattering hits, while Omaha punched
Nagle for twice that many and one
more.
Captain Fox played his last game with
Lincoln. He was sold to Omaha during
the day and will Join that team tomor
row in Its contest with Sioux City at
Omaha. He wound up his career with
Lincoln with a big day's work, gettting
three putouta and three assists and tak
ing part in a double play.
Hogrlever, Gagnler and Eddie Crelgh
ton shone for the locals, taking all of
many chances. Fisher and Paul David

the real star of the day was none other
